TL;DR: In this paper, the tunable element of a tuning module is receptive to optical data channels of a multiplexed optical data signal, each optical data channel having a different respective wavelength.
Abstract: A tunable element of a tuning module is receptive to optical data channels of a multiplexed optical data signal, each optical data channel having a different respective wavelength. The tunable element is responsive to different stimuli such that multiple passbands of the tunable element are defined, each passband corresponding to a respective stimulus and including no more than one wavelength of the optical data channels. An optical detector communicates with the tunable element and is receptive to no more than one optical data channel from the tunable element at any given time, an output of the optical detector is an electrical data signal that corresponds to the optical data channel received by the optical detector from the tunable element. A controller communicates with the tunable element and tunes the tunable element from one optical data channel to the other by causing application of a corresponding stimulus to the tunable element.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a method for assembling an optical transmitter port with minimal defects, which involves a multi-step assembly and measurement process configured to align the optical signal generated in the port with the axis of an optical signal source housing and an axis of a port nose body.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to an optical signal transmitter port. In one embodiment, the optical signal transmitter port includes a nose body having a bendable extending transmission end, and an optical signal housing having an optical source therein assembled into the nose body. The optical signal source generates an optical signal within the nose body and the bendable portion is adjusted to optimize the output of the port. Embodiments of the invention are further related to a method for assembling an optical transmitter port with minimal defects. The assembly process involves a multi-step assembly and measurement process configured to align the axis of the optical signal generated in the port with the axis of an optical signal source housing and an axis of a port nose body.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of performing eye safety measurements on laser devices is disclosed, which uses an optical detector having at least two zones to make separate measurements of both a direct power coming from the laser and an indirect power reflected off of the central bore.
Abstract: A method of performing eye safety measurements on laser devices is disclosed. The laser is contained within a housing having a central bore. The method uses an optical detector having at least two zones to make separate measurements of both a direct power coming from the laser and an indirect power reflected off of the central bore. The first zone measuring the direct power is smaller than the second zone measuring the indirect power. The measurement of the first power is then used to adjust the power of the laser to be within a specified optical standard, such as the class 1 standard. In one exemplary embodiment, the laser is an 850 nanometer Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL).

TL;DR: In this paper, an electrical printed circuit board serving for electrical contact-connection of an integrated circuit was proposed. But the board was not shown to have a dielectric forming the printed circuit material, and it did not have a ground inner layer connected to ground potential.
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical printed circuit board serving for electrical contact-connection of an integrated circuit. The printed circuit board has a dielectric forming the printed circuit board material; at least one ground inner layer connected to ground potential; and a supply voltage inner layer connected to the potential of the supply voltage. The invention further includes at least one locally formed inner layer electrically connected to the supply voltage inner layer; a first external terminal contact serving for electrical connection to a ground terminal of an integrated circuit; and a second external terminal contact serving for electrical connection to a supply voltage terminal of an integrated circuit. In addition, a first contact-connection is provided between the first external terminal contact and the at least one ground inner layer; and a second contact-connection is provided between the second external terminal contact and the at least one locally formed inner layer. The at least one locally formed inner layer and the at least one ground inner layer provide a printed circuit board decoupling capacitor for an integrated circuit.

TL;DR: In this paper, a network diagnostic component receives a speed negotiation signal from a first node for communication with a second node, and compares the measured duration with a desired duration by a measurement module.
Abstract: Systems and methods for a network diagnostic device or component that is placed in-line between two nodes in a network to capture the value of a component of a speed negotiation signal. The network diagnostic component receives a speed negotiation signal from a first node for communication with a second node. The speed negotiation signal may be received by a receive module. The speed negotiation signal includes one at least a first portion that comprises one or more data units. The network diagnostic component measures the duration of the data units of the first component of the speed negotiation data. This measurement may be performed by a measurement module. The network diagnostic component compares the measured duration with a desired duration. The comparison may be performed by a measurement module. A record of whether the measured duration compares with the desired duration is then generated by a generation module.
