TL;DR: In this paper, a traffic generator may include a scripting module configured to create a script, which is executed by the traffic generator to send and/or receive network messages within the network system, which may help test one or more components of the networking system.
Abstract: A networking system may include a traffic generator. The traffic generator may include a scripting module configured to create a script. The traffic generator may execute the script to send and/or receive network messages within the networking system, which may help test one or more components of the networking system. The script may include one or more entries. An entry may be configured to instruct the traffic generator to send one or more network messages.

TL;DR: In this paper, a photonic device including a first device comprising a first set of layers, including at least a first waveguide layer, arranged in a mesa structure, and a second device consisting of at least two waveguide layers forming a second waveguide region coupled to the first device in a light transmission direction is described.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a photonic device including a first device comprising a first set of layers, including at least a first waveguide layer, arranged in a mesa structure, and a second set of layers, including at least a second waveguide layer, formed in a second device region coupled to said first device in a light transmission direction. A cladding layer is arranged on top of the mesa structure, the second device region and the surrounding semiconductor material. A contact layer is arranged on top of the cladding layer, and a first and a second metal contact is arranged on top of the contact layer. The first set of layers, the cladding and contact layers are shaped in etching processes to remove adjacent arranged material. An insulating material is applied around the not etched cladding and contact layer. The invention also relates to a manufacturing method.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an in situ method for assembling and measuring optical characteristics of an optical component by pressing an optical source or lens into an optical housing while simultaneously measuring the optical output of the device.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide an in situ method for assembling and measuring optical characteristics of an optical component. The method generally includes pressing an optical source or lens into an optical housing while simultaneously measuring the optical output of the device. The measured optical output is used to determine and control when the optical source or lens is pressed to an optical position within optical housing. Once the source or lens is pressed into the optical housing, the method includes measuring the optical offset and/or pointing angle of the assembled component in the same apparatus that assembled the component. The measured optical offset and/or pointing angle information is used to determine how to mechanically alter the optical housing to correct or compensate for the optical offset and pointing angle.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss recent results on high speed VCSELs targeted for the emerging 16GFC (Fibre Channel) standard as well as the now forming 25Gbps PCI express standard.
Abstract: In this paper we will discuss recent results on high speed VCSELs targeted for the emerging 16GFC (Fibre Channel) standard as well as the now forming 25Gbps PCI express standard. Significant challenges in designing for reliability and speed have been overcome to demonstrate VCSELs with bandwidth in excess of 20Gbps.

TL;DR: An optical fiber securing device may include a passage, an epoxy well, a path, an optical fiber seat, and a protrusion as discussed by the authors, which is configured to restrain epoxy received within the passage such that the epoxy does not become interposed between the end of the optical fiber and the lens.
Abstract: An optical fiber securing device may include a passage, an epoxy well, an epoxy path, an optical fiber seat, and a protrusion. The passage may have an entrance and an exit, the passage configured to receive therein an optical fiber inserted through the entrance. The epoxy well may be configured to receive therein epoxy. The epoxy path may provide a pathway for epoxy between the epoxy well and the passage. The optical fiber seat may be configured to receive at least a portion of the optical fiber, the optical fiber seat configured to position an end of the optical fiber in optical alignment with a lens. The protrusion may define an upper boundary of the passage at the exit of the passage, the protrusion configured to restrain epoxy received within the passage such that the epoxy does not become interposed between the end of the optical fiber and the lens.
