TL;DR: Clinical features of sleep disorders in AD are described and the relation between sleep disorders and both cognitive impairment and poor prognosis of the disease is discussed.
Abstract: Sleep disturbances, as well as sleep-wake rhythm disturbances, are typical symptoms of Alzheimer's disease (AD) that may precede the other clinical signs of this neurodegenerative disease. Here, we describe clinical features of sleep disorders in AD and the relation between sleep disorders and both cognitive impairment and poor prognosis of the disease. There are difficulties of the diagnosis of sleep disorders based on sleep questionnaires, polysomnography or actigraphy in the AD patients. Typical disturbances of the neurophysiological sleep architecture in the course of the AD include deep sleep and paradoxical sleep deprivation. Among sleep disorders occurring in patients with AD, the most frequent disorders are sleep breathing disorders and restless legs syndrome. Sleep disorders may influence circadian fluctuations of the concentrations of amyloid-β in the interstitial brain fluid and in the cerebrovascular fluid related to the glymphatic brain system and production of the amyloid-β. There is accumulating evidence suggesting that disordered sleep contributes to cognitive decline and the development of AD pathology. In this mini-review, we highlight and discuss the association between sleep disorders and AD.

TL;DR: The combined treatment was found to have synergistic effect on insect mortality when a B. bassiana isolate compatible with neem was used, while, with an isolate sensitive to neem, an antagonistic effect was observed.
Abstract: Beauveria bassiana is being used as a biopesticide for many insect pests. Neem oil (azadirachtin) is an eco-safe popular botanical pesticide. A biopesticde with a neem compatible isolate of B. bassiana will enable their simultaneous use in pest management. A sample of 30 isolates of B. bassiana from culture collections was screened for compatibility with a commercial formulation of neem oil (Margoside®) at the field recommended dose (0.3%, v/v). Compatibility was tested in vitro through germination and growth assays. In all isolates, conidial germination was delayed but not significantly decreased by neem. In the growth assays, 23 isolates were found compatible with neem. In the neem sensitive isolates, growth was decreased but not totally inhibited. The effect of combined treatment with B. bassiana and neem in comparison to single treatments with either of them on Spodoptera litura Fabricius was tested in laboratory bioassays. The combined treatment was found to have synergistic effect on insect...

TL;DR: In this paper, a specific study of the application of solid lubricant in turning is presented, where the process performance is judged in terms of cutting force, tool temperature, tool wear and the surface finish of workpiece, keeping the cutting conditions constant.
Abstract: Turning is one of the most fundamental and indispensable processes of metal removal in industry. The heat generated in the cutting zone during turning is critical in deciding the workpiece quality and tool life. Though cutting fluids are widely employed to carry away the heat in metal cutting, their usage poses threat to ecology and the health of workers. Hence, there arises a need to identify eco-friendly and user-friendly alternatives to conventional cutting fluids. Modern tribology has facilitated the use of solid lubricants. The present work features a specific study of the application of solid lubricant in turning. The process performance is judged in terms of cutting force, tool temperature, tool wear and the surface finish of workpiece, keeping the cutting conditions constant. The results obtained from the experiment show the effectiveness of the use of the solid lubricant as a viable alternative to dry and wet machining. The unique utility of solid lubricant is highlighted.
