Abstract: The energy of a sensor node is a major factor for life of a network in wireless sensor network. The depletion of the sensor energy is dependent on the communication range from the sink. Clustering is mainly used to prolong the life of a network with energy consumption. This paper proposes optimization of clustering using genetic algorithm which will help to minimize the communication distance. The cluster overhead and the active and sleep mode of a sensor is also considered while calculating the fitness function to form the cluster. This approach helps to prolong the network life of sensor network. The proposed work is tested for different number of nodes and is helping to find the correct solution for the selection of cluster heads.

Abstract: Feature selection approach solves the dimensionality problem by removing irrelevant and redundant features. Existing Feature selection algorithms take more time to obtain feature subset for high dimensional data. This paper proposes a feature selection algorithm based on Information gain measures for high dimensional data termed as IFSA (Information gain based Feature Selection Algorithm) to produce optimal feature subset in efficient time and improve the computational performance of learning algorithms. IFSA algorithm works in two folds: First apply filter on dataset. Second produce the small feature subset by using information gain measure. Extensive experiments are carried out to compare proposed algorithm and other methods with respect to two different classifiers (Naive bayes and IBK) on microarray and text data sets. The results demonstrate that IFSA not only produces the most select feature subset in efficient time but also improves the classifier performance.

Abstract: Background and Aim: Dentinal hypersensitivity is a relatively common problem experienced in clinical dental practice and is characterized by short, sharp pain in response to stimuli such as tactile, thermal, evaporative, osmotic, or chemical. Several agents and treatment modalities have been used in the treatment of this condition. This study was conducted to compare the efficacy of four commercially available toothpastes in the reduction of dentinal hypersensitivity (DH), based on the hypothesis that calcium sodium phosphosilicate (CSPS) group had a better efficacy of the four. Settings and Design: This study design was a prospective, single-blind, randomized, parallel clinical design. Subjects and Methods: A total of 160 cases (93 males and 67 females; aged 20-60 years) were randomly divided into four groups: Group 1 - toothpaste containing 5% potassium nitrate; Group 2 - toothpaste containing 5% CSPS (NovaMin); Group 3 - toothpaste containing 10% strontium chloride; and Group 4 - a herbal formulation. The patients' DH scores for tactile, thermal, and evaporative stimuli were recorded on a visual analog scale at baseline, 2 weeks, 1 month, and 2 months. Statistical Analysis Used: The data were analyzed with Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney U-test (P Results: The four desensitizing kinds of toothpaste containing different active agents were effective in relieving dentinal hypersensitivity. However, CSPS group showed a better clinical response at the end of 2 months. Conclusions: The CSPS group showed a better reduction in the symptoms of DH.

Abstract: In the present study, pluronic lecithin organogel (PLO) of diltiazem hydrochloride (DZH) was developed by taking different ratios of organic phase to aqueous phase (1:3, 1:4, and 1:5) with varying concentration of soya lecithin (20, 30, and 40 % w/w) in organic phase (isopropyl myristate, IPM) and pluronic (20, 25, and 30 % w/w) in aqueous phase, respectively, and characterized for in vitro parameters and ex vivo permeation study. The results of in vitro parameters were found to be within permissible limit and all the PLOs were physically stable at refrigeration and ambient temperature. The influence of phase ratio and different concentrations of soya lecithin on DZH release from the PLOs was found to be significant (p < 0.05), whereas the influences of different concentrations of pluronic were insignificant. The effect of different solvents/penetration enhancers viz. IPM, propylene glycol (PG), dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), and D-limonene, in combination and alone, on the permeation of DZH across the dorsal skin of rat was studied. Among all, formulation containing IPM (PLO6) exhibited highest flux of 147.317 μg/cm(2)/h. Furthermore, histopathology section of treated skin sample illustrated that lipid bilayer disruption was the mechanism for the DZH permeation. The above results indicated that PLO6 may serve as a promising alternative delivery system for DZH in the effective treatment of hypertension.
