Abstract: Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) needs to get adopted to change in wind speeds with sudden change in reactive power or grid terminal voltage as it is required for maintaining synchronism and stability as per modern grid rules. This paper proposes a controller for DFIG converters and optimal tip speed ratio based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for turbine to maintain equilibrium in rotor speed, generator torque, and stator and rotor voltages and also to meet desired reference real power during the turbulences like sudden change in reactive power or voltage with concurrently changing wind speed. The performance of DFIG is compared when there is change in wind speed only, changes in reactive power and variation in grid voltage along with variation in wind speed.

Abstract: An efficient method for the synthesis of S-aryl /heteroaryl-quinazoline has been developed through the cross-coupling of 1,4-dihydroquinazoline with a variety of aryl and heteroaryl boronic acids assisted by [Cu(OAc) 2] as the catalyst for the formation of carbon-sulfur bonds. This newly developed method demonstrates that the conditions of the traditional copper-catalyzed Chan-Lam reaction can be improved. Optimized reaction involves base, solvent and catalyst.

Abstract: X-Ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray, Fourier transform infrared, Raman spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, UV–Visible spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopic studies have been carried out on alkali earth lead zinc phosphate glasses doped with 0.1 % chromium ions. The energy dispersive X-ray spectra reveal fundamental compositional information of the glasses. Infrared spectra indicate that phosphate network is depolymerized with progressive substitution of alkali earth content and inform the characteristic vibrations of PO4 3− units. Raman spectra suggest that these glasses are consisting of metaphosphate [Q2] units along with some bands related to pyrophosphate [Q1] and orthophosphate [Q0] units. The crystal-field parameter and inter-electronic repulsion parameters have been evaluated from optical absorption spectral data. Electron spin resonance spectra of Cr3+ systems indicate that g ∥ > g ⊥ and Cr3+ ions are located at sites with lower symmetry. It is obtained that the glass transition temperatures fall in region of 377–360 °C. Increase in density of the glass system brings changes in structure of the glasses on replacement of alkali earth content.

Abstract: High temperature non-Newtonian materials processing provides a stimulating area for process engineering simulation. Motivated by emerging applications in this area, the present article investigates the time-dependent free convective flow of a chemically-reacting micropolar fluid from a vertical plate oscillating in its own plane adjacent to a porous medium. Thermal radiative, viscous dissipation and wall couple stress effects are included. The Rosseland diffusion approximation is used to model uni-directional radiative heat flux in the energy equation. Darcy’s model is adopted to mimic porous medium drag force effects. The governing two-dimensional conservation equations are normalized with appropriate variables and transformed into a dimensionless, coupled, nonlinear system of partial differential equations under the assumption of low Reynolds number. The governing boundary value problem is then solved under physically viable boundary conditions numerically with a finite element method based on the weighted residual approach. Graphical illustrations for velocity, micro-rotation (angular velocity), temperature and concentration are obtained as functions of the emerging physical parameters i.e. thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, first order chemical reaction parameter etc. Furthermore, friction factor (skin friction), surface heat transfer and mass transfer rates have been tabulated quantitatively for selected thermo-physical parameters. A comparison with previously published paper is made to check the validity and accuracy of the present finite element solutions under some limiting cases and excellent agreement is attained. Additionally, a mesh independence study is conducted. The model is relevant to reactive polymeric materials processing simulation.
