TL;DR: In this paper, the compositions of biotites coexisting with sanidine and magnetite were determined for a variety of conditions of furo, fs, and temperature, and the compositions lie in the ternary system KFes2+AlSLOro(OH)r, annite-KMg32+AlSraOro (OII)2, phlogopite-kFe3r+Al SigOu (H-J, ''oxybiotite''.
Abstract: Biotites on the join phlogopite-annite react to form a number of assemblages and the reactions are governed by the independent intensive parameters, temperature, fugacity of HrO (fnro), and fugacity of oxygen (f6 r) . The most common of these assemblages in natural occurrences are biotite-sanidine-hematite; biotite-sanidine-magnetite; and biotite-leuciteolivine-magnetite. The compositions of biotites coexisting with sanidine and magnetite were determined for a variety of conditions of furo, fs, and temperature. The compositions lie in the ternary system KFes2+AlSLOro (OH)r, annite-KMg32+AlSraOro (OII)2, phlogopite-KFe3r+AlSigOu (H-J, \"oxybiotite.\" Application of regular solution theory to KFerAlSiaOro(OH)s in ternary solid solution yields the following relationship:

TL;DR: Fire has been a factor throughout the history of land-plant evolution and is not strictly a Neogene phenomenon, and Mesozoic fossils show evidence of fire-adaptive traits and, in some lineages, these might have persisted to the present as fire adaptations.

TL;DR: The history of the Taupo Volcanic Zone (TVZ) can be divided into two categories: the old TVZ from 2.0 Ma to 0.34 Ma and the young TVZ between 0.9 and 0.6 Ma as discussed by the authors.

TL;DR: Measurements and analysis of a boreal forest fire, integrating the effects of greenhouse gases, aerosols, black carbon deposition on snow and sea ice, and postfire changes in surface albedo imply that future increases in boreal fire may not accelerate climate warming.
Abstract: We report measurements and analysis of a boreal forest fire, integrating the effects of greenhouse gases, aerosols, black carbon deposition on snow and sea ice, and postfire changes in surface albedo. The net effect of all agents was to increase radiative forcing during the first year (34 ± 31 Watts per square meter of burned area), but to decrease radiative forcing when averaged over an 80-year fire cycle (–2.3 ± 2.2 Watts per square meter) because multidecadal increases in surface albedo had a larger impact than fire-emitted greenhouse gases. This result implies that future increases in boreal fire may not accelerate climate warming.
