TL;DR: This compound did not demonstrate rotaxane formation when mixed with dibenzo-24-crown-8, providing further evidence that the perfluoropropyl groups were effective electronic stoppers for the macrocycle.

TL;DR: The severity and character of pathology was causally linked to the intensity of infection, the attachment mode of the parasites, and to the anatomophysiological relationships within the gut of the host shark.
Abstract: Lesions associated with two species of tapeworms within the digestive tract of wild-caught specimens of the bull shark, Carcharhinus leucas, and the sicklefin weasel shark, Hemigaleus microstoma, from Malaysian Borneo are described. Portions of the glandular stomach and pyloric gut with parasites were removed and fixed in 10% formalin buffered in sea water. Whole mounts, histological sections of tissues with and without worms in situ, and scanning electron microscopy images of detached worms were examined. Both species of cestodes belonged to the trypanorhynch family Tentaculariidae. Heteronybelinia estigmena was found in large numbers parasitizing the pyloric gut of C. leucas; an unidentified tentaculariid was found in relatively small numbers in both the glandular stomach and pyloric gut of H. microstoma. Both species burrowed their scoleces deeply in the mucosa and attached via hooked tentacles and unciniform microtriches of the scolex. The lesions induced by the parasites were marked in both sharks and ranged from acute necrotizing to chronic granulomatous gastroenteritis. Regenerative hyperplasia and intestinal metaplasia of gastric epithelium were also present. The severity and character of pathology was causally linked to the intensity of infection, the attachment mode of the parasites, and to the anatomophysiological relationships within the gut of the host shark.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate how diverse learners in one fourth grade classroom, challenged teacher authority in an effort to position themselves as capable readers, and implored the teachers to consider the social context of reading as an essential component to the ways in which we offer readers opportunities to grow.
Abstract: This article moves beyond the common core and leveled literacy instruction to demonstrate how diverse learners in one fourth grade classroom, challenged teacher authority in an effort to position themselves as capable readers. In doing so, they implored the teachers to consider the social context of reading as an essential component to the ways in which we offer readers opportunities to grow. Readers’ identities, were both limited by and grew out of the opportunities pertaining to leveled reading that were made available within the classroom. The vignettes examined contain implications for how a student’s sense of agency and reader identity impacts who they are as readers and how they are viewed within the culture of the classroom.

TL;DR: In this article, a definition of the new paradigm is offered, then its premises and assumptions are carefully analyzed using current philosophy of science, and the analysis shows that some management research does validly generate a new paradigm.
Abstract: As research and writing on the new paradigm expands into management, the question of whether this research is valid or vacuous becomes more crucial. In this article, a definition of the new paradigm is offered, then its premises and assumptions are carefully analyzed using current philosophy of science. Rather than taking the more common Kuhnian approach, this analysis is based on Taylor's (1992) model of paradigm transitions. The analysis shows that some management research does validly generate a new paradigm. However, much of what is being written under the new paradigm banner does not satisfy criteria that are implied by the notion of a new paradigm. In the conclusion, implications for this assessment are described and a series of questions that can increase the validity and transformative power of new paradigm research in management are offered.

TL;DR: The findings of this meta-analysis indicate that yoga is no better or worse than other exercise modalities as a treatment intervention for adults with stroke and MS, and children.
Abstract: Objective: Research pertaining to yoga and children with cerebral palsy (CP) is negligible The primary purpose of this study was to determine the domains of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model and levels of evidence for yoga and adults with stroke and multiple sclerosis (MS), and children A secondary purpose was to decide whether any inferences could be made for children with CP Design: This study included a meta-analysis Interventions: A systematic review was performed of yoga and said populations Outcome measures were categorized according to the ICF model domains of body structures and function, activity, and quality of life Effect sizes (ESs) were calculated by using Cohen's d Since there were few commonalities among outcome measures and reporting of outcomes within and among diagnostic groups, direct comparisons of ESs were difficult Hence, we chose to evaluate the impact of yoga as compared with the control group or other physical exer
