Abstract: Since the 1970s, various automatic sleep spindles procedures have been implemented and presented in the literature. Unfortunately, their results are not easily comparable because the databases, the assessment methods and the terminologies employed are often radically different. In this study, we propose a systematic assessment method for any automatic sleep spindles detection algorithm. We apply this assessment method to our own automatic detection process in order to illustrate and legitimate its use. We obtain a global sensitivity of 70.20%, for a false positive proportion (relative to the total number of visually scored sleep spindles) of only 26.44% (False positive rate= 1.38% and specificity = 98.62%).

Abstract: We implement a simple, continuous, analytical model for exciton hopping in an energetically disordered molecular landscape. The model is parameterized against atomistic and lattice Monte Carlo simulations based on quantum-chemical calculations. It captures the essential physics of exciton diffusion in disordered media at different temperatures and yields a universal scaling law of the diffusion length with the dimensionless disorder parameter given by the ratio of the energetic disorder width to the thermal energy.

Abstract: A search for a Higgs boson in the four-lepton decay channel H→ZZ, with each Z boson decaying to an electron or muon pair, is reported. The search covers Higgs boson mass hypotheses in the range of 110 100 GeV (with 13 below 160 GeV), while 67.1±6.0 (9.5±1.3) events are expected from background. The four-lepton mass distribution is consistent with the expectation of standard model background production of ZZ pairs. Upper limits at 95% confidence level exclude the standard model Higgs boson in the ranges of 134–158 GeV, 180–305 GeV, and 340–465 GeV. Small excesses of events are observed around masses of 119, 126, and 320 GeV, making the observed limits weaker than expected in the absence of a signal.

Abstract: Searches for neutral Higgs bosons produced at LEP in association with Z bosons, in pairs and in the Yukawa process are presented in this paper. Higgs boson decays into b quarks, tau leptons, or other Higgs bosons are considered, giving rise to four-b, four-b+jets, six-b and four-tau final states, as well as mixed modes with b quarks and tau leptons. The whole mass domain kinematically accessible at LEP in these topologies is searched. The analysed data set covers both the LEP1 and LEP2 energy ranges and exploits most of the luminosity recorded by the DELPHI experiment. No convincing evidence for a signal is found, and results are presented in the form of mass-dependent upper bounds on coupling factors (in units of model-independent reference cross-sections) for all processes, allowing interpretation of the data in a large class of models.
