TL;DR: A newly designed deep neural network model called A-YONet, which is constructed by combining the advantages of YOLO and MTCNN is proposed to be deployed in an end–edge–cloud surveillance system, in order to realize the lightweight training and feature learning with limited computing sources.
Abstract: Along with the rapid development of cloud computing, IoT, and AI technologies, cloud video surveillance (CVS) has become a hotly discussed topic, especially when facing the requirement of real-time analysis in smart applications Object detection usually plays an important role for environment monitoring and activity tracking in surveillance system The emerging edge-cloud computing paradigm provides us an opportunity to deal with the continuously generated huge amount of surveillance data in an on-site manner across IoT systems However, the detection performance is still far away from satisfactions due to the complex surveilling environment In this study, we focus on the multitarget detection for real-time surveillance in smart IoT systems A newly designed deep neural network model called A-YONet, which is constructed by combining the advantages of YOLO and MTCNN, is proposed to be deployed in an end–edge–cloud surveillance system, in order to realize the lightweight training and feature learning with limited computing sources An intelligent detection algorithm is then developed based on a preadjusting scheme of anchor box and a multilevel feature fusion mechanism Experiments and evaluations using two data sets, including one public data set and one homemade data set obtained in a real surveillance system, demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method in enhancing training efficiency and detection precision, especially for multitarget detection in smart IoT application developments

TL;DR: A beam splitter is placed in front of the objective lens of CASSI, which allows the same scene to be simultaneously captured by a grayscale camera, which greatly eases the reconstruction problem and yields high-quality 3D spectral data.
Abstract: Coded aperture snapshot spectral imaging (CASSI) provides an efficient mechanism for recovering 3D spectral data from a single 2D measurement. However, since the reconstruction problem is severely underdetermined, the quality of recovered spectral data is usually limited. In this paper we propose a novel dual-camera design to improve the performance of CASSI while maintaining its snapshot advantage. Specifically, a beam splitter is placed in front of the objective lens of CASSI, which allows the same scene to be simultaneously captured by a grayscale camera. This uncoded grayscale measurement, in conjunction with the coded CASSI measurement, greatly eases the reconstruction problem and yields high-quality 3D spectral data. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

TL;DR: A parameterization method is proposed to adaptively determine the weight of each coding vector pair, which leads to a support vector guided dictionary learning (SVGDL) model, which outperforms many state-of-the-art discriminative dictionary learning methods.
Abstract: Discriminative dictionary learning aims to learn a dictionary from training samples to enhance the discriminative capability of their coding vectors. Several discrimination terms have been proposed by assessing the prediction loss (e.g., logistic regression) or class separation criterion (e.g., Fisher discrimination criterion) on the coding vectors. In this paper, we provide a new insight on discriminative dictionary learning. Specifically, we formulate the discrimination term as the weighted summation of the squared distances between all pairs of coding vectors. The discrimination term in the state-of-the-art Fisher discrimination dictionary learning (FDDL) method can be explained as a special case of our model, where the weights are simply determined by the numbers of samples of each class. We then propose a parameterization method to adaptively determine the weight of each coding vector pair, which leads to a support vector guided dictionary learning (SVGDL) model. Compared with FDDL, SVGDL can adaptively assign different weights to different pairs of coding vectors. More importantly, SVGDL automatically selects only a few critical pairs to assign non-zero weights, resulting in better generalization ability for pattern recognition tasks. The experimental results on a series of benchmark databases show that SVGDL outperforms many state-of-the-art discriminative dictionary learning methods.

TL;DR: This paper proposes two schemes to guarantee the secure transmission in UAV-NOMA networks by derive the hovering position for the UAV and the power allocation to meet rate threshold of the secure user while maximizing the sum rate of remaining users.
Abstract: Owing to its distinctive merits, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques have been utilized in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) enabled wireless base stations to provide effective coverage for terrestrial users. However, the security of NOMA-UAV systems remains a challenge due to the line-of-sight air-to-ground channels and higher transmission power of weaker users in NOMA. In this paper, we propose two schemes to guarantee the secure transmission in UAV-NOMA networks. When only one user requires secure transmission, we derive the hovering position for the UAV and the power allocation to meet rate threshold of the secure user while maximizing the sum rate of remaining users. This disrupts the eavesdropping towards the secure user effectively. When multiple users require secure transmission, we further take the advantage of beamforming via multiple antennas at the UAV to guarantee their secure transmission. Due to the non-convexity of this problem, we convert it into a convex one for an iterative solution by using the second order cone programming. Finally, simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
