The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently, and also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital.
Abstract
An eleven item clinician-administered Mania Rating Scale (MRS) is introduced, and its reliability, validity and sensitivity are examined. There was a high correlation between the scores of two independent clinicians on both the total score (0.93) and the individual item scores (0.66 to 0.92). The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently. The score also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital. It was able to differentiate statistically patients before and after two weeks of treatment and to distinguish levels of severity based on the global rating.

Discrete neurocognitive subgroups in fully or partially remitted bipolar disorder: Associations with functional abilities.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted to determine whether there are discrete neurocognitive subgroups in bipolar disorder and three discrete subgroups were detected: cognitively intact (46.1%), selectively impaired with deficits in processing speed (32.6%), and globally impaired across verbal learning, working memory, and executive skills (21.2%).

Cognitive functioning in euthymic bipolar I and bipolar II patients.

TL;DR: The results support a similar pattern of cognitive deficits in both subtypes of bipolar disorder, and patient groups did not differ significantly from each other on any domain tested.

Impaired verbal memory and otherwise spared cognition in remitted bipolar patients on monotherapy with lithium or valproate

TL;DR: Immediate verbal memory was impaired in both patient groups compared to controls, where the main effect of age was not significant, and both lithium and valproate may be associated with immediate verbal memory impairment, sparing other cognitive functions.

A rating scale for depression

TL;DR: The present scale has been devised for use only on patients already diagnosed as suffering from affective disorder of depressive type, used for quantifying the results of an interview, and its value depends entirely on the skill of the interviewer in eliciting the necessary information.
