The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently, and also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital.
Abstract
An eleven item clinician-administered Mania Rating Scale (MRS) is introduced, and its reliability, validity and sensitivity are examined. There was a high correlation between the scores of two independent clinicians on both the total score (0.93) and the individual item scores (0.66 to 0.92). The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently. The score also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital. It was able to differentiate statistically patients before and after two weeks of treatment and to distinguish levels of severity based on the global rating.

Childhood mania, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and conduct disorder: a critical review of diagnostic dilemmas

TL;DR: The literature on the extent to which early onset bipolar disorder and ADHD can be reliably differentiated is reviewed, and the diagnostic confusion that may be the result of features common to both classes of disorders is described.

Exogenous testosterone, aggression, and mood in eugonadal and hypogonadal men.

TL;DR: The data do not support the hypothesis that supraphysiological levels of T (within this range) lead to an increase in self- and partner-reported aggression or mood disturbances and identify the high level of negative affect experienced by hypogonadal patients.

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy of bipolar disorder versus intermittent explosive disorder in children and adolescents

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that differences in the concentration of myo-inositol in the anterior cingulate cortex in (1)H MRS may differentiate these two populations of patients with bipolar disorder and children with intermittent explosive disorder.

A pilot controlled trial of topiramate for mania in children and adolescents with bipolar disorder.

TL;DR: Topiramate was well tolerated, however, the results are inconclusive because of premature termination resulting in a limited sample size, and adequate powered controlled trials are necessary to determine whether topiramate has efficacy in reducing symptoms of acute mania in children and adolescents.

TL;DR: The present scale has been devised for use only on patients already diagnosed as suffering from affective disorder of depressive type, used for quantifying the results of an interview, and its value depends entirely on the skill of the interviewer in eliciting the necessary information.
