The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently, and also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital.Abstract:
An eleven item clinician-administered Mania Rating Scale (MRS) is introduced, and its reliability, validity and sensitivity are examined. There was a high correlation between the scores of two independent clinicians on both the total score (0.93) and the individual item scores (0.66 to 0.92). The MRS score correlated highly with an independent global rating, and with scores of two other mania rating scales administered concurrently. The score also correlated with the number of days of subsequent stay in hospital. It was able to differentiate statistically patients before and after two weeks of treatment and to distinguish levels of severity based on the global rating.read more

TL;DR: In this paper, a diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) study was conducted at 3 Tesla on age and IQ-matched children and adolescents with PBD (n = 13), ADHD ( n = 13, and healthy control subjects (HC) (N = 15), where three DTI parameters, fractional anisotropy (FA), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), and regional fiber coherence index (r-FCI), were examined in eight fiber tracts.

TL;DR: Olanzapine was effective in the treatment of bipolar mania in adolescent patients and patients treated with olanzapine had significantly greater weight gain and increases in the levels of hepatic enzymes, prolactin, fasting glucose, fasting total cholesterol, and uric acid.

Cyclothymic temperament as a prospective predictor of bipolarity and suicidality in children and adolescents with major depressive disorder.
TL;DR: It is submitted that the CHT in depressed children and adolescents heralds bipolar transformation, and the need for greater effort to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of pre-bipolar depressions in juvenile patients is underscore.

TL;DR: Psychotic bipolar disorder was associated with differential impairment on tasks requiring frontal/executive processing, suggesting that psychotic symptoms may have neural correlates that are at least partially independent of those associated with bipolar I disorder more generally.

A rating scale for depression
TL;DR: The present scale has been devised for use only on patients already diagnosed as suffering from affective disorder of depressive type, used for quantifying the results of an interview, and its value depends entirely on the skill of the interviewer in eliciting the necessary information.
