TLDR
In this article, the basic equations governing air-sea gas exchange are given, then a review of some models proposed to describe the gas transfer process is given, and experimental approaches through both laboratory (principally using wind/water tunnels) and field measurements are summarized.Abstract:
In this chapter we attempt to present a brief introduction to the subject of air-sea gas exchange First the basic equations governing such exchange are given, then a review of some models proposed to describe the gas transfer process Following this, experimental approaches through both laboratory (principally using wind/water tunnels) and field measurements are summarised Finally, we present what seems to us to be the best current synthesis of the wind tunnel and field results for the prediction of gas exchange rates across the sea surfaceread more

Air-sea exchange of dimethylsulfide in the Southern Ocean: Measurements from SO GasEx compared to temperate and tropical regions
TL;DR: In the Southern Ocean Gas Exchange Experiment (SO GasEx), this article measured an atmospheric dimethylsulfide (DMS) concentration of 118 ± 54 pptv (1σ), a DMS sea-to-air flux of 2.9 ± 2.1 μmol m−2 d−1 by eddy covariance, and a seawater DMS concentration of 1.6 ± 0.7 nM.

Invasive floating macrophytes reduce greenhouse gas emissions from a small tropical lake
Katrin Attermeyer,Katrin Attermeyer,Sabine Flury,Sabine Flury,R Jayakumar,Peter Fiener,Kristin Steger,V. Arya,F. Wilken,R. van Geldern,Katrin Premke +10 more
TL;DR: Investigation of carbon (C) turnover and GHG emissions from a small water-harvesting lake in South India concludes that the increased invasion of water hyacinths and other floating macrophytes has the potential to changeGHG emissions, a process that might be relevant in regional C budgets.

A comprehensive model to describe radiolytic processes in cement medium
P. Bouniol,Erling Bjergbakke +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, basic mechanisms controlling the radiolysis in cementitious matrices are reviewed in the specific context of the gamma irradiation, in closed system without upper vapour space, at 25°C, with a pore solution representative of a Portland cement paste.

Nitrous oxide production in the tropical Atlantic Ocean
TL;DR: In this paper, atmospheric and oceanic N2O measurements were carried out in 1986 in the tropical Atlantic (5° 12°N, 20° -22°W) to estimate the oceanic source of atmospheric N 2O to 11.3 ml m−2 y−1.

Water‐air flux of dimethylsulfide
TL;DR: In this article, the water-air exchange of dimethylsulfide (DMS) has been measured in a laboratory wind-wave tank in fresh and seawater, and its exchange was simultaneously with that of O2, SF6, Ne, CH4, and He under varying wind speeds and hydrodynamic conditions.

Gas exchange rates between air and sea
TL;DR: In this article, the average film thickness for the world ocean based on the distribution of natural radiocarbon, bomb-produced radioccarbon, and radon are in good agreement, and Radon data from the BOMEX area and from station PAPA lend support to Kanwisher's suggestion that gas exchange rates should vary in proportion to the square of the wind velocity.

Vollständige Darstellung der turbulenten Geschwindigkeitsverteilung in glatten Leitungen
TL;DR: From experimental investigations of turbulent exchange of momentum a formula is derived for the velocity of turbulent flow in tubes and pipes in this paper, which gives a complete representation of the velocity distribution, i. e. it holds good close to the wall as well as in the core of the flow.
