Leaf anatomical traits corroborate the leaf economic spectrum: a case study with deciduous forest tree species

TL;DR: Examination of leaf anatomy and specific leaf area in 13 dominant tree species of dry forests in central Brazil finds higher values of SLA and the high investment achieved in the mesophyll are probably related to the accomplishment of a high performance of carbon and nutrients gain during the limited wet season.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative Morphology and Systematic Position of Averrhoidium within Sapindaceae

TL;DR: The type of seed presentation observed for Averrhoidium is found to be unique and remarkable for Sapindaceae: the one‐seeded capsules dehisce, allowing the placenta and parts of the septa to turn outward like a tongue, while the single seed is still fixed to theplacenta.
Journal ArticleDOI

Taxonomy of the New World species of Lotus (Leguminosae: Loteae)

TL;DR: Phenetic results resolved four groups of species which coincide with the new genera Acmispon, Hosackia Douglas ex Benth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phylogenetic Position of Dipentodon Sinicus: Evidence from DNA Sequences of Chloroplast rbcL, Nuclear Ribosomal 18S, and Mitochondria matR Genes

TL;DR: The phylogenctic trees based on individual genes and the combined data suggested that Diventodon is sister to Tapiscia (Tapisciaceae) and that Dipentodon could be placed in euroside 11 of the APG system.
