Consumer Acceptance and Use of Information Technology: Extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology

TLDR
In this paper, the authors extended the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to study acceptance of technology in a consumer context and proposed UTAUT2 incorporating three constructs into UTAAUT: hedonic motivation, price value, and habit.
Abstract
This paper extends the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to study acceptance and use of technology in a consumer context. Our proposed UTAUT2 incorporates three constructs into UTAUT: hedonic motivation, price value, and habit. Individual differences — namely, age, gender, and experience — are hypothesized to moderate the effects of these constructs on behavioral intention and technology use. Results from a two-stage online survey, with technology use data collected four months after the first survey, of 1,512 mobile Internet consumers supported our model. Compared to UTAUT, the extensions proposed in UTAUT2 produced a substantial improvement in the variance explained in behavioral intention (56 percent to 74 percent) and technology use (40 percent to 52 percent). The theoretical and managerial implications of these results are discussed.

Big data adoption and knowledge management sharing: an empirical investigation on their adoption and sustainability as a purpose of education

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived risk, and behavioral intention to use big data should influence adoption of big data, while age diversity, cultural diversity, and motivators should impact knowledge management sharing.

Investigating user switching intention for mobile instant messaging application: Taking WeChat as an example

TL;DR: A migration theory from social network perspective is introduced to explore the intrinsic and extrinsic factors influencing users’ switching intention in the context of mobile instant messaging (MIM) application and it is found that functional deprivation, monetary deprivation and personal innovativeness could positively influence users” switching intentions.

Consumer Acceptance of Internet of Things (IoT): Smart Home Context

TL;DR: An integrative theoretical model is proposed that extends UTAUT2 and offers a more comprehensive picture of the factors influencing IoT acceptance and use and shows that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and price value are significant predictors of smart home acceptance andUse.

Students' perceptions and readiness towards mobile learning in colleges of education: a Nigerian perspective

TL;DR: In this article, a qualitative and regression analysis was performed on a sample of 320 students from three colleges of education in Nigeria, and the results showed that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and mobile learning conditions are positively correlated with behavioural intention.

The theory of planned behavior

TL;DR: Ajzen, 1985, 1987, this article reviewed the theory of planned behavior and some unresolved issues and concluded that the theory is well supported by empirical evidence and that intention to perform behaviors of different kinds can be predicted with high accuracy from attitudes toward the behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control; and these intentions, together with perceptions of behavioral control, account for considerable variance in actual behavior.

A Theoretical Extension of the Technology Acceptance Model: Four Longitudinal Field Studies

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed and tested a theoretical extension of the TAM model that explains perceived usefulness and usage intentions in terms of social influence and cognitive instrumental processes, which was tested using longitudinal data collected regarding four different systems at four organizations (N = 156), two involving voluntary usage and two involving mandatory usage.
