Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TLDR
Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.

Suppressed T cell-mediated immunity in patients with COVID-19: A clinical retrospective study in Wuhan, China.

TL;DR: A significant decrease of T lymphocyte subset is positively correlated with in-hospital death and severity of illness, which may shed light on early warning of high risks of mortality and help early intervention and treatment of COVID-19.
Journal ArticleDOI

SARS-CoV-2 infection pathogenesis is related to oxidative stress as a response to aggression.

TL;DR: A hypothesis based on strong scientific documentation, associating oxidative stress with changes found in patients with COVID-19, such as its participation in the amplification and perpetuation of the cytokine storm, coagulopathy, and cell hypoxia is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serum Cytokine and Chemokine Profile in Relation to the Severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in China.

TL;DR: It is suggested that combinatorial analysis of serum cytokines and chemokines with clinical classification may contribute to evaluation of the severity of COVID-19 and optimize the therapeutic strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The anti-influenza virus drug, arbidol is an efficient inhibitor of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

TL;DR: Six currently available and licensed anti-influenza drugs against SARS-CoV-2 are evaluated and it is suggested that arbidol treatment showed tendency to improve the discharging rate and decrease the mortality rate of COVID-19 patients.

Isolation of a Novel Coronavirus from a Man with Pneumonia in Saudi Arabia

TL;DR: The clinical picture was remarkably similar to that of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003 and reminds us that animal coronaviruses can cause severe disease in humans.

Origin and evolution of pathogenic coronaviruses

TL;DR: The viral factors that enabled the emergence of diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome and Middle East respiratory syndrome are explored and the diversity and potential of bat-borne coronaviruses are highlighted.
