Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TLDR
Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.

COVID-19-neutralizing antibodies predict disease severity and survival.

TL;DR: It is found that severe cases resulting in intubation or death exhibited increased inflammatory markers, lymphopenia, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and high anti-receptor binding domain (RBD) antibody levels, highlighting the importance of neutralizing humoral immunity on disease progression and the need to develop broadly protective interventions to prevent future coronavirus pandemics.

A deep learning algorithm using CT images to screen for Corona virus disease (COVID-19).

TL;DR: In this article, a deep learning algorithm was used to detect the presence of COVID-19 in CT images during the 2015-2016 influenza season, achieving an accuracy of 89.5% with a specificity of 0.88 and sensitivity of 0.87.

Clinical features and short-term outcomes of 221 patients with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China.

TL;DR: Patients with elder age, chronic comorbidities, blood leukocyte/lymphocyte count, procalcitonin level, co-infection and severe complications might increase the risk of poor clinical outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Obesity and COVID-19 Severity in a Designated Hospital in Shenzhen, China.

TL;DR: In this study, obese patients had increased odds of progressing to severe COVID-19 and clinicians should pay close attention to obese patients, who should be carefully managed with prompt and aggressive treatment.

Prevalence of and Risk Factors Associated With Mental Health Symptoms Among the General Population in China During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic.

TL;DR: The mental health burden associated with CO VID-19 is considerable among the general population of China, suggesting that mental health interventions are in urgent demand during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially for some at-risk populations.

Isolation of a Novel Coronavirus from a Man with Pneumonia in Saudi Arabia

TL;DR: The clinical picture was remarkably similar to that of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003 and reminds us that animal coronaviruses can cause severe disease in humans.

Origin and evolution of pathogenic coronaviruses

TL;DR: The viral factors that enabled the emergence of diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome and Middle East respiratory syndrome are explored and the diversity and potential of bat-borne coronaviruses are highlighted.
