Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study

TLDR
Characteristics of patients who died were in line with the MuLBSTA score, an early warning model for predicting mortality in viral pneumonia, and further investigation is needed to explore the applicability of the Mu LBSTA scores in predicting the risk of mortality in 2019-nCoV infection.

COVID-19 associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA)—from immunology to treatment

TL;DR: The treatment of CAPA is complicated by drug–drug interactions associated with broad spectrum azoles, renal tropism and damage caused by SARS-CoV-2, which may challenge the use of liposomal amphotericin B, as well as the emergence of azole-resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI

ACE2 Expression Is Increased in the Lungs of Patients With Comorbidities Associated With Severe COVID-19.

TL;DR: It is found that ACE2 was highly expressed in these patients, compared to control individuals, and this finding suggests that patients with such comorbidities may have higher chances of developing severe COVID-19.

Imaging and clinical features of patients with 2019 novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

TL;DR: COVID‐19 is a new clinical infectious disease that mainly causes bilateral pneumonia and lung function deteriorates rapidly, and patients are likely to present respiratory failure or even death.

COVID-19-Associated Kidney Injury: A Case Series of Kidney Biopsy Findings.

TL;DR: The most common finding in kidney biopsy samples from ten hospitalized patients with AKI and COVID-19 was acute tubular necrosis, and there was no evidence of SARS-CoV-2 in the biopsied kidney tissue.

Association of Sex, Age, and Comorbidities with Mortality in COVID-19 Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

TL;DR: Implementing adequate protection and interventions for COVID-19 patients in general and in particular male patients with age ≥50 years having comorbidities may significantly reduce risk of mortality associated with CO VID-19.

Isolation of a Novel Coronavirus from a Man with Pneumonia in Saudi Arabia

TL;DR: The clinical picture was remarkably similar to that of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003 and reminds us that animal coronaviruses can cause severe disease in humans.

Origin and evolution of pathogenic coronaviruses

TL;DR: The viral factors that enabled the emergence of diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome and Middle East respiratory syndrome are explored and the diversity and potential of bat-borne coronaviruses are highlighted.
