TLDR
In this paper, Dispersed repetitive DNA sequences from yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) nuclear DNA have been isolated as molecular hybrids in lambdagt and showed marked alterations in the size of the restriction fragments containing these repetitive DNAs.

Application of Ty1 for cloned gene insertion : amplification of a large regulated expression cassette in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

TL;DR: A large cassette, 4.6 × 103 bases (4.6 kb) in length, containing an inducible expression system and a bacterial neomycin-resistance gene has been cloned into the noncoding region of a GAL1-regulated Ty1 retrotransposon, demonstrating the practical application of Ty1 for the insertion of large regulated expression cassettes.

Structure and Organisation of the Human Genome

TL;DR: Mutation is by no means a rare event in human somatic and germ cells and the human genome may be a rather less stable entity than is sometimes assumed.

Applications of Molecular Cloning to Saccharomyces

TL;DR: It is no exaggeration to say that Yeast is emerging from the first years of the recombinant DNA era as a kind of eukaryotic E. coli: this is not to imply that yeast is an entirely typical eucaryote or that it can or should displace more complex organisms as a focus of study.

Potential retroviruses in plants

TL;DR: Athila is a group of degenerate Arabidopsis thaliana Tyl/gypsy retrotransposons that encode a conserved ORF after integrase and the env-like ORF of Calypso and Cyclops is conserved suggesting that they are evolving under functional constraints.

Detection of specific sequences among DNA fragments separated by gel electrophoresis.

TL;DR: This paper describes a method of transferring fragments of DNA from agarose gels to cellulose nitrate filters that can be hybridized to radioactive RNA and hybrids detected by radioautography or fluorography.

Screening lambdagt recombinant clones by hybridization to single plaques in situ

TL;DR: A rapid, direct method for screening single plaques of Agt recombinant phage is described, which allows at least 10(6) clones to be screened per day and simplifies physical containment of recombinants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of restriction fragments of T7 DNA and determination of molecular weights by electrophoresis in neutral and alkaline gels.

TL;DR: Electrophoresis in alkaline gels can provide accurate molecular weights for linear, single-Stranded DNAs, and should be useful in analyzing DNA for single-strand breaks, depurinations or topological differences such as ring forms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chromosome organization and genic expression.

TL;DR: Presented at the Cold Spring Harbor Symposium in 1951, this paper focused on regulation and development rather than transposition, and strongly reflected McClintock's newfound interest in theory.
