TLDR
In this paper, Dispersed repetitive DNA sequences from yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) nuclear DNA have been isolated as molecular hybrids in lambdagt and showed marked alterations in the size of the restriction fragments containing these repetitive DNAs.

The Alcohol Dehydrogenase Genes of the Yeast, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae: Isolation, Structure, and Regulation

TL;DR: Alcohol dehydrogenase catalyzes the inter-conversion of an alcohol and an aldehyde with NAD+ as a cofactor and in many organisms there is a distinctive tissue specificity in the distribution of different ADH isozymes.
Journal ArticleDOI

GCR1‐Dependent Transcriptional Activation of Yeast Retrotransposon Ty2‐917

TL;DR: Transcription of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Ty2‐917 retrotransposon depends on regulatory elements both upstream and downstream of the transcription initiation site, and activation by both of these sites depends on the GCR1 product, a transcription factor which also regulates the genes encoding yeast glycolytic enzymes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genomic instability and mobile genetic elements in regions surrounding two discoidin I genes of Dictyostelium discoideum.

TL;DR: It is found that the genomic regions surrounding the linked discoidin I genes of various Dictyostelium discoideum strains have undergone rapid changes, and there are repeat elements in these rapidly changing regions that have characteristics associated with mobile genetic elements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cell-type-dependent gene activation by yeast transposon Ty1 involves multiple regulatory determinants.

TL;DR: It is shown that the Ty1 transcriptional control region consists of multiple components with distinct regulatory functions, and that Ty1 regions that exert negative effects on gene expression were identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic mapping of Ty elements in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

TL;DR: Transformation to insert a selectable marker at various sites in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae genome occupied by the transposable element Ty shows that there is preferential integration of the CV9 plasmid into the Ty1-17 class.

Detection of specific sequences among DNA fragments separated by gel electrophoresis.

TL;DR: This paper describes a method of transferring fragments of DNA from agarose gels to cellulose nitrate filters that can be hybridized to radioactive RNA and hybrids detected by radioautography or fluorography.

Screening lambdagt recombinant clones by hybridization to single plaques in situ

TL;DR: A rapid, direct method for screening single plaques of Agt recombinant phage is described, which allows at least 10(6) clones to be screened per day and simplifies physical containment of recombinants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of restriction fragments of T7 DNA and determination of molecular weights by electrophoresis in neutral and alkaline gels.

TL;DR: Electrophoresis in alkaline gels can provide accurate molecular weights for linear, single-Stranded DNAs, and should be useful in analyzing DNA for single-strand breaks, depurinations or topological differences such as ring forms.

Chromosome organization and genic expression.

TL;DR: Presented at the Cold Spring Harbor Symposium in 1951, this paper focused on regulation and development rather than transposition, and strongly reflected McClintock's newfound interest in theory.
