Persistence and clearance of Ebola virus RNA from seminal fluid of Ebola virus disease survivors: a longitudinal analysis and modelling study.

TLDR
Using the biostatistical model, it is predicted that 50% and 90% of male survivors clear Ebola virus RNA from seminal fluid at 115 days (90% prediction interval 72-160) and 294 days (212-399) after disease onset, respectively, and the number of men positive for Ebola virusRNA in affected countries would decrease from about 50 in January 2016, to fewer than 1 person by July, 2016.

Antiviral efficacy of favipiravir against Ebola virus: A translational study in cynomolgus macaques.

TL;DR: The results suggest that favipiravir may be an effective antiviral drug against Ebola virus that relies on RNA chain termination and possibly error catastrophe, and support a potential role for high doses of favipIRavir for future human interventions.

Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa — The First 9 Months of the Epidemic and Forward Projections

TL;DR: This work analyzed a detailed subset of data on 3343 confirmed and 667 probable Ebola cases collected in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone as of September 14 to estimate the case fatality rate and the course of infection.

Assessment of the Risk of Ebola Virus Transmission from Bodily Fluids and Fomites

TL;DR: It is concluded that EBOV is shed in a wide variety of bodily fluids during the acute period of illness but that the risk of transmission from fomites in an isolation ward and from convalescent patients is low when currently recommended infection control guidelines for the viral hemorrhagic fevers are followed.

Maximum likelihood estimation in nonlinear mixed effects models

TL;DR: A stochastic approximation version of EM for maximum likelihood estimation of a wide class of nonlinear mixed effects models is proposed, able to provide an estimator close to the MLE in very few iterations.

TL;DR: The objectives of the trial were to test the feasibility and acceptability of an emergency trial in the context of a large Ebola outbreak, and to collect data on the safety and effectiveness of favipiravir in reducing mortality and viral load in patients with EVD.
