TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Neural and behavioral correlates of decision confidence

TL;DR: Tese de doutoramento em Biociencia, no ramo de Neurociencia, apresentada ao Departamento de Ciencias da Vida da Faculdade de Cientícias e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal as discussed by the authors
Journal ArticleDOI

Consciousness is for sharing

TL;DR: This work believes that the critical mechanism underlying consciousness is meta-cognition; the ability to reflect upon and report mental states, whether the authors' own or those of others, which allows us to share experiences and create a more accurate picture of the world.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ketamine increases fronto-posterior functional connectivity during meta-perceptual confidence ratings

TL;DR: In this paper , the effects of a psychotomimetic dose (target plasma concentration 100 ng/mL) of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) glutamate receptor antagonist ketamine on metacognition in a perceptual decision-making framework were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictive coding, multisensory integration, and attentional control: A multicomponent framework for lucid dreaming

TL;DR: This novel framework aims to link neural correlates of LD with current concepts of sleep and arousal regulation and provide testable predictions on interindividual differences in LD as well as neurocognitive mechanisms inducing lucid dreams.
Dissertation

The effect of psychological stress on auditory perception

Robert Hoskin
TL;DR: The effect of psychological stress on auditory perception is discussed in this article, where the authors discuss the effect of stress on the perception of auditory perception in the presence of pseudonyms and pseudonyms.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
