TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Motivational fatigue: A neurocognitive framework for the impact of effortful exertion on subsequent motivation

TL;DR: A neurocognitive framework for fatigue is put forward, which provides a new framework for understanding the effects of fatigue during cognitively and physically demanding tasks as well as for understanding motivational impairments in health and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interaction takes two: Typical adults exhibit mind-blindness towards those with autism spectrum disorder.

TL;DR: Typical individuals were better able to identify the mental state portrayed in the animations produced by typical, relative to autistic, individuals, which confirmed the primary hypothesis that individuals with ASD move in a quantifiably different way from typical individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Individual consistency in the accuracy and distribution of confidence judgments.

TL;DR: Measuring confidence across different sessions of four different perceptual tasks shows that confidence distributions are virtually identical when measured in different days for the same subject and the same task, constituting a subjective fingerprint.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human metacognition across domains: insights from individual differences and neuroimaging.

TL;DR: This article reviews recent literature on the domain-generality of human metacognition and suggests that such an architecture may be appropriate for “tagging” generic feelings of confidence with domain-specific information, in turn forming the basis for priors about self-ability and modulation of higher-order behavioral control.
Journal ArticleDOI

The total operating characteristic to measure diagnostic ability for multiple thresholds

TL;DR: The total operating characteristic (TOC) is introduced, which shows the total information in the contingency table for each threshold, and maintains desirable properties of ROC, while TOC reveals strictly more information than ROC in a manner that makes ROC more useful than TOC.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
