Supporting Online Material for Relating Introspective Accuracy to Individual Differences in Brain Structure

TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Domain-general enhancements of metacognitive ability through adaptive training

TL;DR: A striking malleability of introspection is revealed and the potential for a domain-general enhancement of metacognitive abilities is indicated, which could lead to systematic improvements in metacognition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Limited Cognitive Resources Explain a Trade-Off between Perceptual and Metacognitive Vigilance.

TL;DR: Results indicate that during breaks between short blocks, it is the higher-level perceptual decision mechanisms, rather than lower-level sensory machinery, that benefit most from rest, which advances the understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics of perceptual metacognition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inter-individual variability in metacognitive ability for visuomotor performance and underlying brain structures

TL;DR: These results extend past research by linking metacognitive sensitivity for visuomotor behavior to brain areas involved in action agency, executive control, and vision (fusiform).
Journal ArticleDOI

More Realistic Forecasting of Future Life Events After Psilocybin for Treatment-Resistant Depression

TL;DR: It is suggested that psilocybin with psychological support might correct pessimism biases in patients with treatment-resistant depression, enabling a more positive and accurate outlook.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frequent lucid dreaming associated with increased functional connectivity between frontopolar cortex and temporoparietal association areas

TL;DR: Investigation of the neuroanatomical/neurofunctional correlates of frequent lucid dreams suggests that frequent lucid dreaming is associated with increased functional connectivity between aPFC and temporoparietal association areas, regions normally deactivated during sleep.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
