TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Dynamics and monitoring of mind-wandering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the dynamics and introspective monitoring of thoughts, by capitalizing on the salient and often unnoticed phenomenon of mind-wandering, which is the rise of thoughts about personal concerns.

Data-driven methods for characterizing individual differences in brain MRI

Kuldeep Kumar
TL;DR: The segmentation approaches presented in the thesis provide a flexible and efficient way to analyze 3D curves like tractography streamlines, and is suitable for large-scale analyses of structural connectivity.

Neuronal Network and Awareness Measures of Post-Decision Wagering Behavior in Detecting Masked Emotional Faces

TL;DR: A new method of assessing the association between advantageous wagering and awareness in the PDW task is proposed with a combination of log-linear (LLM) modeling and neural network simulation to reveal the computational patterns that establish this association.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bodily self-consciousness, and the primacy of self related signals such as the 1st person perspective and self-location

TL;DR: It is emphasized that consciousness has two distinct spatial aspects, namely self-location and first-person perspective, and a primacy of multisensory own body perception over social perception and awareness as a neurobiological foundation of consciousness is argued.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
