TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Functional brain activation patterns of creative metacognitive monitoring

TL;DR: In this paper , a generalized linear mixed effects model was applied to investigate effects of creative metacognitive monitoring and creative potential on EEG activity in the alpha band at idea and person level, and participants with higher monitoring skills and higher creative potential showed stronger alpha power decreases at parietal/occipital sites during creative idea generation and evaluation.

Learning of goal-relevant and irrelevant complex visual sequences in human V1

TL;DR: Results indicate for the first time that human V1 can support the learning of multiple concurrent sequences involving complex discontinuous inter-item associations, even peripheral sequences that are goal-irrelevant.

Contextual and temporal variability in large-scale functional network interactions underlying attention

TL;DR: The dorsal attention network and default network configurations during different forms of internal attention vary across default SUBSYSTEMs, time, and COGNITIVE state.

Decoded fMRI neurofeedback can induce bidirectional behavioral changes within single participants

TL;DR: Modeling results revealed that DecNef successfully induced bidirectional behavioral changes in different sessions, and up-regulation was more sizable, and the effect was largely preserved even after an interval of one-week, indicating strong anterograde learning interference.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metacognitive Domains Are Not Aligned along a Dimension of Internal-External Information Source

TL;DR: This article found no correlation between visual and memory tasks, and a positive correlation between visuomotor and motor tasks, but no correlations between m-ratios in visual and visu-omotor tasks, or between motor and memory.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
