TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.

Balancing Interoception and Exteroception: Vestibular and Spatial Contributions to the Bodily Self

Sonia Ponzo
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a study on the visual capture of proprioception and affectivity during vestibular Stimulation during stroke patients, focusing on right hemisphere stroke patients.

Does nonlinear neural network dynamics explain human confidence in a sequence of perceptual decisions

TL;DR: In this article, an attractor neural network model quantitatively reproduces, for each participant, the relations between accuracy, response times and confidence, as well as sequential effects, suggesting that a metacognitive process such as confidence in one's decision is linked to the intrinsically nonlinear dynamics of the decision-making neural network.

Prospective Sense of Agency: Cognitive and Neural Mechanisms

Nura Sidarus
TL;DR: In this paper, the cognitive and neural mechanisms through which action selection processes can prospectively inform our sense of agency have been investigated, and a consistent reduction in SoA was found when action selection was disrupted, regardless of whether participants freely chose what to do, or followed an instruction.

Stochastic satisficing account of choice and confidence in uncertain value-based decisions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a stochastic satisficing (SSAT) model for choosing between options with continuous uncertain outcomes and found that the SSAT model best explained choice behavior and most successfully predicted confidence ratings.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm

TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics

TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
