Supporting Online Material for Relating Introspective Accuracy to Individual Differences in Brain Structure
TLDR
It is shown that introspective ability is correlated with gray matter volume in the anterior prefrontal cortex, a region that shows marked evolutionary development in humans, and this findings point to a focal neuroanatomical substrate for introspection ability, a substrate distinct from that supporting primary perception.About:

Visibility Is Not Equivalent to Confidence in a Low Contrast Orientation Discrimination Task
TL;DR: It is argued that the distinction between discrimination confidence and visibility can be reconciled with both the partial awareness hypothesis and higher order thought theory and suggest that consciousness research would benefit from differentiating between subjective reports of visibility and confidence.

Changes in ventromedial prefrontal and insular cortex support the development of metamemory from childhood into adolescence
Yana Fandakova,Diana Selmeczy,Sarah Leckey,Kevin J. Grimm,Carter Wendelken,Silvia A. Bunge,Simona Ghetti +6 more
TL;DR: Analysis of cortical changes in key brain areas hypothesized to support metacognition contribute to the development of metamemory monitoring from late childhood into early adolescence provided insights into the neuroanatomical correlates supporting thedevelopment of the capacity to self-reflect, and highlighted the role of this capacity for general intellectual development.

Estimating changing contexts in schizophrenia
Claire M. Kaplan,Debjani Saha,Juan L. Molina,William D. Hockeimer,Elizabeth M. Postell,Jose A. Apud,Daniel R. Weinberger,Hao Yang Tan,Hao Yang Tan +8 more
TL;DR: This work hypothesized that schizophrenia-related deficits in prefrontal function might overestimate context change probabilities, and that this more chaotic worldview may subsequently gain familiarity and be over-reinforced, with implications for delusions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metacognition-based process improvement practices
Young Sik Cho,Kevin Linderman +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored how a process improvement leader's metacognitive awareness influences PIP effectiveness and found that managerial metacognition was positively related to adaptive PIP performance within the organization.

From a single decision to a multi-step algorithm.
Stanislas Dehaene,Mariano Sigman +1 more
TL;DR: It is argued that this competence involves serial chains of successive decisions, each based on the accumulation of evidence up to a threshold and forwarding the result to the subsequent step, approximating the operation of a slow serial Turing machine.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods
John Ashburner,Karl J. Friston +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

A fast diffeomorphic image registration algorithm
TL;DR: DARTEL has been applied to intersubject registration of 471 whole brain images, and the resulting deformations were evaluated in terms of how well they encode the shape information necessary to separate male and female subjects and to predict the ages of the subjects.

Transformed Up‐Down Methods in Psychoacoustics
TL;DR: A broad class of up‐down methods used in psychoacoustics with due emphasis on the related problems of parameter estimation and the efficient placing of observations is described, including examples where conventional techniques are inapplicable.
