TL;DR: Though the threat of extinction is increasing, overall declines would have been worse in the absence of conservation, and current conservation efforts remain insufficient to offset the main drivers of biodiversity loss in these groups.

Life after logging: reconciling wildlife conservation and production forestry in Indonesian Borneo
Erik Meijaard,Douglas Sheil,Robert Nasi,D. Augeri,B. Rosenbaum,Djoko T. Iskandar,Titiek Setyawati,A. Lammertink,I. Rachmatika,Anna Wong,T. Soehartono,Scott A. Stanley,Timothy G. O'Brien +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a technical review of ecological and life history information on a range of Bornean wildlife species, aimed at identifying what makes these species sensitive to timber harvesting practices and associated impacts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phylogenetics of Fanged Frogs:Testing Biogeographical Hypotheses at the Interface of the Asian and Australian Faunal Zones
Ben J. Evans,Rafe M. Brown,Jimmy A. McGuire,Jatna Supriatna,Jatna Supriatna,Noviar Andayani,Arvin C. Diesmos,Djoko T. Iskandar,Don J. Melnick,David C. Cannatella +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the recognition of zoogeographic lines, though insightful, may oversimplify the biogeography of widespread taxa in this region.

TL;DR: Collecting biological specimens for scientific studies came under scrutiny when B. A. Minteer and colleagues suggested that this practice plays a significant role in species extinctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematics of a widespread Southeast Asian frog, Rana chalconota (Amphibia: Anura: Ranidae)
TL;DR: The morphological and molecular analysis of populations from all parts of the known range suggest that R. chalconota consists of at least seven species from Thailand through Borneo and Java, and describes four others as new species and suggests the existence of one or two additional, unnamed species.
