Progress in Interband Cascade Lasers: From Edge Emitting Lasers to VCSELs

TL;DR: Recent progress in mid-infrared sources based on interband cascade active regions for operation in the L-band is reviewed and in particular towards the demonstration of VCSELs, the most promising laser embodiment for energy-efficient portable tunable sources.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Long-wavelength III-V/silicon photonic integrated circuits

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of short-wave infrared and mid-infrared photonic integrated circuits for applications in spectroscopic sensing systems is presented, including passive silicon waveguide circuits, GeSn photodetectors, the integration of III-V and IV-VI semiconductors on these circuits and silicon nonlinear optics.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

High temperature continuous wave operation of Sb-based monolithic EP-VCSEL with selectively etched tunnel-junction apertures

TL;DR: In this paper, a monolithic Sb-based Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser operating at CW up to 70°C was presented. But the performance of the VCSEL was not evaluated.
