Journal ArticleDOI
Neutral transition metal complexes with the tridentate ligand 4-(5-methyl-4-imidazolyl)-3-thiabutanoic acid. A series of isostructural octahedral compounds
Elisabeth Bouwman,Jan Reedijk +1 more
TL;DR: The synthesis and spectroscopic properties of the 4-(5-methyl-4-imidazoly)-3-thiabutanoic acid (abbreviated Hitba) are described in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron coordination in soybean lipoxygenase-1
TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the coordination of iron in soybean lipoxygenase-1 was proposed on the basis of an exploratory EXAFS study, which led to the conclusion that the iron in lipoxgenase is ligated by histidines coordinating with nitrogen of the imidazole ring.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and complex formation of a novel, flexible, biomimetic, benzimidazole‐containing, dinucleating ligand
J. Van Rijn,Jan Reedijk +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis and complex formation with copper(II) of a new symmetric octadentate N6O2 ligand was described, which appears to yield dinuclear compounds with copper-II salts with different kinds of bridging anions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nucleic acids in two dimensions : layers of base pairs linked by carboxylate
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of a planar 2D hydrogen-bonded network between DNA bases and formate residues is reported, leading to unprecedented parallel sheets of DNA analogues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Row 7 of the periodic table complete: Can we expect more new elements; and if so, when?
TL;DR: In this article, the impact of the completion of the 7th row up to Z = 118, by the addition of four new elements in the periodic table - nihonium, moscovium, tennessine and oganesson - is described.
