TL;DR: It is found that there is an optimal added noise to optimize the performance of the CV-MDI QKD protocol in terms of both key rates and maximal transmission distances.
Abstract: A continuous-variable measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (CV-MDI QKD) protocol using squeezed states is proposed where the two legitimate partners send Gaussian-modulated squeezed states to an untrusted third party to realize the measurement. Security analysis shows that the protocol can not only defend all detector side channels, but also attain higher secret key rates than the coherent-state-based protocol. We also present a method to improve the squeezed-state CV-MDI QKD protocol by adding proper Gaussian noise to the reconciliation side. It is found that there is an optimal added noise to optimize the performance of the protocol in terms of both key rates and maximal transmission distances. The resulting protocol shows the potential of long-distance secure communication using the CV-MDI QKD protocol.

TL;DR: A joint computation offloading and multiuser scheduling algorithm in NB-IoT edge computing system that minimizes the long-term average weighted sum of delay and power consumption under stochastic traffic arrival is proposed.
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) connects a huge number of resource-constraint IoT devices to the Internet, which generate massive amount of data that can be offloaded to the cloud for computation. As some of the applications may require very low latency, the emerging mobile edge computing (MEC) architecture offers cloud services by deploying MEC servers at the mobile base stations (BSs). The IoT devices can transmit the offloaded data to the BS for computation at the MEC server. Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) is a new cellular technology for the transmission of IoT data to the BS. In this paper, we propose a joint computation offloading and multiuser scheduling algorithm in NB-IoT edge computing system that minimizes the long-term average weighted sum of delay and power consumption under stochastic traffic arrival. We formulate the dynamic optimization problem into an infinite-horizon average-reward continuous-time Markov decision process (CTMDP) model. In order to deal with the curse-of-dimensionality problem, we use the approximate dynamic programming techniques, i.e., the linear value-function approximation and temporal-difference learning with post-decision state and semi-gradient descent method, to derive a simple algorithm for the solution of the CTMDP model. The proposed algorithm is semi-distributed, where the offloading algorithm is performed locally at the IoT devices, while the scheduling algorithm is auction-based where the IoT devices submit bids to the BS to make the scheduling decision centrally. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides significant performance improvement over the two baseline algorithms and the MUMTO algorithm which is designed based on the deterministic task model.

TL;DR: A data-driven architecture for enhancing personalized QoE is proposed for 5G networks and specifically proposes a two-stepQoE modeling approach to capture the strength of the relationship between users and services.
Abstract: With the emergence of a variety of new wireless network types, business types, and QoS in a more autonomic, diverse, and interactive manner, it is envisioned that a new era of personalized services has arrived, which emphasizes users' requirements and service experiences. As a result, users' QoE will become one of the key features in 5G/future networks. In this article, we first review the state of the art of QoE research from several perspectives, including definition, influencing factors, assessment methods, QoE models, and control methods. Then a data-driven architecture for enhancing personalized QoE is proposed for 5G networks. Under this architecture, we specifically propose a two-step QoE modeling approach to capture the strength of the relationship between users and services. Thereafter, the preferences of a user is introduced to model the user's subjectivity toward a specific service. With the comprehension of users' preferences, radio resources can be distributed more precisely. Simulation results show that overall QoE can be enhanced by 20 percent, while 96 percent of users have an improved QoE, which validates the efficiency of the proposed architecture.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel VN embedding model based on 3-D resource constraints including computing, network and storage, and devise two heuristic algorithms as the baseline algorithms to deal with the Vn embedding problem.
Abstract: Network virtualization can offer more flexibility and better maintainability for the current Internet through allowing multiple heterogeneous virtual networks (VNs) to share the network resource of a common infrastructure provider. The main challenge in this respect is the efficient embedding the virtual nodes and virtual links from the VN requests onto the limited substrate network resources. The notion of storage resource can exchange bandwidth resource to some extent gives us a hint that the efficient utilization of storage resource can relieve the bandwidth resource consumption. The existing VN embedding model does not consider the storage resource constraints on substrate nodes and virtual nodes, and does not keep up with the need of actual situation. In this paper, we propose a novel VN embedding model based on 3-D resource constraints including computing, network and storage, and devise two heuristic algorithms as the baseline algorithms to deal with the VN embedding problem. To our best of our knowledge, this is the first time to propose VN embedding problem based on 3-D resources including computing, network, and storage.

TL;DR: The state of the art of TD-SCDMA evolution is surveyed, and its technologies and standards in different evolution phases are characterized, and the difference of standardizations between 3GPP and local standard releases are introduced.
Abstract: The current TD-SCDMA commercialization in China brings about many issues concerning the implementation of TD-SCDMA technology, the market, and its applications. In order to make TD-SCDMA successful, evolution from the current TD-SCDMA standards to international mobile telecommunications-advanced are anticipated. TD-SCDMA standards and technologies will take a home-made evolution path in China, aiming at a smooth migration to the next-generation mobile communication system. This article provides a brief description of the evolution strategies of both the standards and key technologies, in which the evolution is divided into three phases. The state of the art of TD-SCDMA evolution is surveyed, and its technologies and standards in different evolution phases are characterized. Single- and multi-carrier high-speed packet access is specified in the first evolution phase for guaranteeing the high transmission bit rate of packet services. Meanwhile, broadcast services are supported, and the HSPA evolution is also incorporated in this phase. Long term evolution is defined in the second evolution phase for approaching similar performance as mobile WiMAX, where channel-reciprocity- based multiple antenna techniques are utilized. The last phase is the revolution to the IMT-Advanced system and becoming one alternative standard in beyond 3G systems, which is based on the evolution of TD-LTE. The difference of standardizations between 3GPP and local standard releases are introduced. Some challenging work and open issues in different evolution phases are discussed as well.
