TL;DR: This paper has performed 3-D text recognition using hidden Markov model (HMM) and bidirectional long short-term memory neural networks (BLSTM-NNs) and created a data set consisting of 560 Latin sentences drawn by ten participants using Leap motion sensor for experiments.
Abstract: Recognition of 3-D texts drawn by fingers using Leap motion sensor can be challenging for existing text recognition frameworks. The texts sensed by Leap motion device are different from traditional offline and on-line writing systems. This is because of frequent jitters and non-uniform character sizes while writing using Leap motion interface. Moreover, because of air writing, characters, words, and lines are usually connected by continuous stroke that makes it difficult to recognize. In this paper, we present a study of segmentation and recognition of text recorded using Leap motion sensor. The segmentation task of continuous text into words is performed using a heuristic analysis of stroke length between two successive words. Next, the recognition of each segmented word is performed using sequential classifiers. In this paper, we have performed 3-D text recognition using hidden Markov model (HMM) and bidirectional long short-term memory neural networks (BLSTM-NNs). We have created a data set consisting of 560 Latin sentences drawn by ten participants using Leap motion sensor for experiments. An accuracy of 78.2% has been obtained in word segmentation, whereas 86.88% and 81.25% accuracies have been recorded in word recognition using BLSTM-NN and HMM classifiers, respectively.

TL;DR: In this article, a search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson in the mu tau and e tau decay modes is presented, based on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions collected with the CMS detector in 2016, at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.
Abstract: A search for lepton flavour violating decays of the Higgs boson in the mu tau and e tau decay modes is presented. The search is based on a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions collected with the CMS detector in 2016, at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. No significant excess over the standard model expectation is observed. The observed (expected) upper limits on the lepton flavour violating branching fractions of the Higgs boson are B(H -> mu tau) e tau) < 0.61% (0.37%), at 95% confidence level. These results are used to derive upper limits on the off-diagonal mu tau and e tau Yukawa couplings root vertical bar Y-mu tau vertical bar(2) + vertical bar Y-mu tau vertical bar(2) < 1.43 x 10(-3) and root vertical bar Y-e tau vertical bar(2) + vertical bar Y-tau e vertical bar(2) < 2.26 x 10(-3) at 95% confidence level. The limits on the lepton flavour violating branching fractions of the Higgs boson and on the associated Yukawa couplings are the most stringent to date.

TL;DR: Test results on both 15-bus and 34-bus systems clearly indicate that the proposed IIA-based wide-area scheme can be a potential protection measure for microgrid under varied operating circumstances.
Abstract: Development of protection scheme for microgrid is a challenging issue due to the inclusion of distributed generations (DGs). The research work for developing the primary protection scheme for microgrid is progressing continuously. This paper proposes an integrated impedance angle (IIA) based protection scheme using wide-area positive sequence components of voltages and currents. The proposed scheme uses data retrieved from the phasor measurement units (PMUs) of IEEE C37.118.1 complied standards. Furthermore, the IIA for the line is computed considering both ends PMU information, which is the key indicator for identifying the faults in the microgrid. The proposed protection scheme is extensively tested considering the different operating conditions of microgrid, variation in DG penetration and variation in fault parameters such as fault resistance, fault types, and fault location. Furthermore, cross validation on no-fault situations including section cutoff, disconnection of high penetration DG, grid-islanding resynchronization, motor starting, capacitor switching, and load encroachment are carried out. The proposed scheme is also tested for the insensitivity towards the external faults. The test results on both 15-bus and 34-bus systems clearly indicate that the proposed IIA-based wide-area scheme can be a potential protection measure for microgrid under varied operating circumstances.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors performed a search for events consistent with the pair production of a new heavy particle that acts as a mediator between a dark sector and normal matter, and that decays to a light quark and a new fermion called a dark quark.
Abstract: A search is performed for events consistent with the pair production of a new heavy particle that acts as a mediator between a dark sector and normal matter, and that decays to a light quark and a new fermion called a dark quark. The search is based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 16.1 fb(-1) from proton-proton collisions at =13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016. The dark quark is charged only under a new quantum-chromodynamics-like force, and forms an emerging jet via a parton shower, containing long-lived dark hadrons that give rise to displaced vertices when decaying to standard model hadrons. The data are consistent with the expectation from standard model processes. Limits are set at 95% confidence level excluding dark pion decay lengths between 5 and 225 mm for dark mediators with masses between 400 and 1250 GeV. Decay lengths smaller than 5 and greater than 225 mm are also excluded in the lower part of this mass range. The dependence of the limit on the dark pion mass is weak for masses between 1 and 10 GeV. This analysis is the first dedicated search for the pair production of a new particle that decays to a jet and an emerging jet.
