TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have collected primary and secondary data from one public university (University of Chittagong) and one group of industries (PHP group of companies) for the study purpose and employed both qualitative and quantitative research instruments which have identified some criteria in order to develop a framework which are 5C such as comparability, credibility, consistency, cost benefit and culture.
Abstract: University-Industry Collaboration (UIC) creates highly skilled and productive business graduates for meeting demand of industry, globalization, knowledge economy, and job market at home and abroad. In coping with ongoing acute competitive pressures of the information edge, higher education curricula of business needs to be intellectually planned, through collaboration between university and industry and developing more connectivity among different stakeholders. Examples of such successful co-operation are well manifested in several countries especially in USA, created interest elsewhere to evaluate university-industry link programs. The present research has collected primary and secondary data from one public university (University of Chittagong) and one group of industries (PHP group of companies) for the study purpose. This study employed both qualitative and quantitative research instruments which have identified some criteria in order to develop a framework which are 5C such as (i) comparability, (ii) credibility, (iii) consistency, (iv) cost-benefit, and (v) culture. The Cone Model for university-industry collaboration has also been used in this paper.

TL;DR: In this article, the theoretical performance of uncompensated optical transmission system using Gaussian Noise (GN) model considering the effect of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise summation and the generation of nonlinear interference (NLI) noise due to the erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and the number of channels.
Abstract: In this paper, we analyse the theoretical performance of uncompensated optical transmission system using Gaussian Noise (GN) model considering the effect of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise summation and the generation of nonlinear interference (NLI) noise due to the erbium doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) and the number of channels. We optimize the optical SNR (OSNR) for computed NLI and ASE noise on coherent uncompensated optical transmission systems (CUOTS) considering four different commercial optical fibre types (SSMF, PSCF150, LEAF, and SMFULL). The bit error rate (BER) is computed for obtained OSNR considering PM-BPSK, PM-QPSK, and PM-16QAM modulation formats where each format runs at 32 GBaud symbol rate.

TL;DR: In this paper, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were prepared by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of commercially available nanometer-sized titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (anatase, ST01) on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrates.
Abstract: In this investigation, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were prepared by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of commercially available nanometer-sized titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (anatase, ST01) on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrates. The rate of cathodic electrophoretic deposition of TiO2 nanoparticle agglomerates and the density of the obtained films were explored as a function of the applied electric field, keeping optimized suspension compositions, such as the particle concentration and the type of solvent. Optimized deposition conditions were found to result in homogeneous, well-controlled, mesoporous TiO2 thick-film photoanodes. Compression of the prepared glass substrate TiO2 photoanode at elevated temperature was commenced as a promising postdeposition surface treatment. The photovoltaic performance characteristics of DSSC prepared by this method were found to be considerably improved compared with those of DSSCs prepared by high-temperature postannealing and compression at room temperature. Surface morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and significant improvement was observed after compression as well as compression at elevated temperature.

TL;DR: In this article, the structural, mechanical, anisotropy, and electronic properties of MgTi with pressure up to 40 GPa have been studied by employing DFT based ab-initio -technique for the first time.
Abstract: The variation of structural, mechanical, anisotropy, and electronic properties of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ with pressure up to 40 GPa have been studied by employing DFT based ab-initio technique for the first time. The slight variation between the optimized and experimental lattice constant ensures the accuracy of the present work, and slightly decreased with pressure. The investigated zero pressure elastic constants and their linear response to pressure up to 40 GPa confirms the stability of cubic phase as the Born stability criteria are satisfied. A transition from cubic to tetragonal phase of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ is observed at 50 GPa pressure. The ductile nature of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ is exhibited in this study, which is enhanced with increasing pressure effect. The anisotropy factors are increased sharply with pressure indicating the changes of physical properties of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ in different directions under pressure. The band structure and density of states reveal the metallic nature of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ , which can be slightly tuned under pressure. Therefore, our simulation results clearly elucidate the significance of taking into account the pressure effects on the physical properties of $$\hbox {MgTi}_{{2}}\hbox {O}_{{4}}$$ .

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of five Islamic banks in Bangladesh in between the period 2005 and 2011 has been analyzed, and the authors highlighted on different standards of liquidity and profitability measurements logical to Islamic philosophy; such as liquidity and profits ratios, liquidity reserves by the banks, net liquidity gap, profit creation from different sectors of the banks.
Abstract: In this depressed world financial scenario, Islamic banking has emerged as a strong alternate financial system. Its growth is not restricted to the Muslim societies but Islamic financial products are also gaining popularity among non-Muslim countries. The objective of this paper is to scrutinize and compare the liquidity and profitability performances of five Islamic banks in Bangladesh in between the period 2005 and 2011. In order to scan the performances, this study highlights on different standards of liquidity and profitability measurements logical to Islamic philosophy; such as liquidity and profitability ratios, liquidity reserves by the banks, net liquidity gap, profit creation from different sectors of the banks, etc. Multiple correlations among liquidity and profitability ratios are shown here. The results of all these measurements are quite apparent. In particular, among all the independent variables, at 90% confidence level only investment to total assets is found to be significantly affecting Return on Assets (a measurement of profitability ratio) for Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd., Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. and EXIM Bank Ltd., whereas with Return on Equity for only Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. However, multicollinearity has been found to be a great issue when considering liquidity impact on profitability for Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd., EXIM Bank Ltd. and Social Islami Bank Ltd. Overall P-values suggest that at 95% confidence level liquidity model proves significant on ROA for Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. and Social Islami Bank Ltd., while on ROE for Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. and Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd.
