Abstract: In this work low voltage DC distribution systems for a home are investigated by evaluating the advantages and disadvantages to 230V systems. The aim of the work is to connect the systems with local generation such as solar cell, micro turbine and energy storages at the end user level. Data obtained from measurements of power consumption for different household appliances such as refrigerator, microwave oven, rice cooker, dish washer etc. have been used to evaluate the systems. The performance of the 230V AC system and the proposed low voltage DC system is analyzed by considering factors such as losses in the wire, internal loss of the device itself, investment cost for new wiring, energy consumption cost

Abstract: We have studied the physical properties of M2InC (M = Zr, Hf and Ta) MAX phases ternary carbides using density functional theory (DFT) methodology. The structural, elastic and electronic properties are revisited (and found to be in good agreement with recently reported results). The charge density distribution, Fermi surface features, Vickers hardness, dynamical stability, thermodynamics and optical properties have been investigated for the first time. The calculated single crystal elastic constants and phonon dispersion curves endorse the mechanical and dynamical stability of all the compounds under study. The calculated single crystal elastic constants Cij and polycrystalline elastic constants are found to increase with increasing atomic number of M species (M = Zr, Hf and Ta). The values of Pugh ratio and Poisson’s ratio revealed the brittleness of the compounds under study associated with strong directional covalent bond with a mixture of ionic contribution. Overlapping of conduction band and valence band at Fermi level notify the metallic nature of M2InC (M = Zr, Hf and Ta) MAX phases. Low values of Vicker hardness indicate the softness of the materials and easy machinability. The thermodynamic properties, such as the free energy, enthalpy, entropy, specific heat capacity and Debye temperature are evaluated using the phonon dispersion curves and a good correspondence is found with the characteristics of M atomic species. Major optical properties, e.g., dielectric functions, refractive index, photoconductivity, absorption coefficient, loss function and reflectivity are calculated and discussed in detail in this study.

Abstract: Many short-lived and highly reactive oxygen species, such as superoxide anion (O2-) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), are toxic or can create oxidative stress in cells, a response involved in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases depending on their concentration, location, and cellular conditions. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities as an endogenous and exogenous cell defense mechanism include the potential use in treating various diseases, improving the potential use in treating various diseases, and improving food-stuffs preparation dietary supplements human nutrition. Published work indicates that SOD regulates oxidative stress, lipid metabolism, inflammation, and oxidation in cells. It can prevent lipid peroxidation, the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein in macrophages, lipid droplets' formation, and the adhesion of inflammatory cells into endothelial monolayers. It also expresses antioxidant effects in numerous cancer-related processes. Additionally, different forms of SOD may also augment food processing and pharmaceutical applications, exhibit anticancer, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects, and prevent arterial problems by protecting the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells. Many investigations in this review have reported the therapeutic ability and physiological importance of SOD. Because of their antioxidative effects, SODs are of great potential in the medicinal, cosmetic, food, farming and chemical industries. This review discusses the findings of human and animal studies that support the advantages of SOD enzyme regulations to reduce the formation of oxidative stress in various ways.

Abstract: The increasingly high incidence of ischemic stroke caused by thrombosis of the arterial vessels is one of the major factors that threaten people’s health and lives in the world. The present treatments for thrombosis are still unsatisfactory. Herbal preparations have been used since ancient times for the treatment of several diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate whether herbal preparations possess thrombolytic activity or not. An in vitro thrombolytic model was used to check the clot lysis effect of the crude extracts and fractions of five Bangladeshi plant viz., Trema orientalis L., Bacopa monnieri L., Capsicum frutescens L., Brassica oleracea L. and Urena sinuata L. using streptokinase as a positive control and water as a negative control. Briefly, venous blood drawn from twenty healthy volunteers was allowed to form clots which were weighed and treated with the test plant materials to disrupt the clots. Weight of clot after and before treatment provided a percentage of clot lysis. Using an in vitro thrombolytic model, different fractions of five Bangladeshi medicinal plants namely T. orientalis, B. monnieri, C. frutescens, B. oleracea and U. sinuata showed various range of clot lysis activity. Chloroform fractions of T. orientalis, B. monnieri, C. frutescens, B. oleracea and U. sinuata showed highest significant (P Chloroform fractions > Methanol (crude) extract > Hydro-methanol fractions > Ethyl acetate fractions > n-hexane fractions > Water. Our study suggests that thrombolytic activity of T. orientalis, B. monnieri and U. sinuata could be considered as very promising and beneficial for the Bangladeshi traditional medicine. Lower effects of other extracts might suggest the lack of bio-active components and/or insufficient quantities in the extract. In vivo clot dissolving property and active component(s) of T. orientalis and B. monnieri for clot lysis could lead the plants for their therapeutic uses. However, further work will establish whether or not, chloroform soluble phytochemicals from these plants could be incorporated as a thrombolytic agent for the improvement of the patients suffering from atherothrombotic diseases.
