Abstract: A complex moiety containing copper (II) has been anchored covalently into the organic-modified Si−MCM-41 to prepare a new catalyst. The amine group containing organic moiety 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane has been first anchored on the surface of Si−MCM-41 via silicon alkoxide route. The amine group upon condensation with salicyldehyde affords a bidentate ligand in the mesoporous matrix for anchoring copper(II) ions. The prepared catalyst has been characterized by UV−vis, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and infrared (IR) spectroscopic analysis, small-angle X-ray diffraction, and N2 sorption study. A remarkable difference in the pore structure has been observed after the immobilization of copper(II) complex in Si−MCM-41. The catalyst showed excellent catalytic efficiency in epoxidation reactions with various olefinic compounds including styrene and allyl alcohol, using tert-BuOOH as oxidant. Abstract: The idea of I-convergence was introduced by Kostyrko et al (2001) and also independently by Nuray and Ruckle (2000) (who called it generalized statistical convergence) as a generalization of statistical convergence (Fast (1951), Schoenberg(1959)). For the last few years, study of these convergences of sequences has become one of the most active areas of research in classical Analysis. In 2003 Muresaleen and Edely introduced the concept of statistical convergence of double sequences. In this paper we consider the notions of I and I*-convergence of double sequences in real line as well as in general metric spaces. We primarily study the inter-relationship between these two types of convergence and then investigate the category and porosity position of bounded I and I*-convergent double sequences.

Abstract: The metapelitic rocks of the Sikkim Himalayas show an inverted metamorphic sequence (IMS) of the complete Barrovian zones from chlorite to sillimanite + K-feldspar, with the higher grade rocks appearing at progressively higher structural levels. Within the IMS, four groups of major planar structures, S1 ,S 2 and S3 were recognised. The S2 structures are pervasive throughout the Barrovian sequence, and are sub-parallel to the metamorphic isograds. The mineral growth in all zones is dominantly syn-S2. The disposition of the metamorphic zones and structural features show that the zones were folded as a northerly plunging antiform. Significant bulk compositional variation, with consequent changes of mineralogy, occurs even at the scale of a thin section in some garnet zone rocks. The results of detailed petrographic and thermobarometric studies of the metapelites along a roughly E-W transect show progressive increase of both pressure and temperature with increasing structural levels in the entire IMS. This is contrary to all models that call for thermal inversion as a possible reason for the origin of the IMS. Also, the observation of the temporal relation between crystallization and S2 structures is problematic for models of post-/late-metamorphic tectonic inversion by recumbent folding or thrusting. A successful model of the IMS should explain the petrological coherence of the Barrovian zones and the close relationship of crystallization in each zone with S2 planar structures along with the observed trend(s) of P-T variation in Sikkim and in other sections. A discussion is presented of some of the available models that, with some modifications, seem to be capable of explaining these observations.

Abstract: Being a difficult-to-cut material, titanium alloy suffers poor machinability for most cutting processes, especially the drilling of micro-holes using traditional machining methods. Although electrical discharge machining (EDM) is suitable for machining titanium alloys, selection of machining parameters for higher machining rate and accuracy is a challenging task in machining micro-holes. The present research attempts to optimize micro-EDM process parameters for machining Ti-6Al-4V super alloy. To verify the optimal micro-EDM process parameters settings, metal removal rate (MRR), tool-wear rate (TWR), over cut (OC) and taper were chosen as observed performance criteria. In addition, four independent parameters such as peak current, pulse-on time, flushing pressure, and duty ratio were adopted for evaluation by the Taguchi method. From the ANOVA and S/N ratio graph, the significant process parameters and the optimal combination level of machining parameters were obtained. It is seen that machining performances are affected mostly by the peak current and pulse-on time during micro-electro-discharge machining of titanium alloy. Mathematical models have been developed to establish the relationship between various significant process parameters and micro-EDM performance criteria. In-depth studies have also been made to examine the influence of various process parameters on the white layer and surface topography through SEM micrographs of machined micro-hole.
