TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined Malaysian science teachers' pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of selected physics concepts and found that trainee teachers' PCK for promoting conceptual understanding is limited.
Abstract: This study examined Malaysian science teachers' pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of selected physics concepts. The two components of PCK investigated were (i) knowledge of students' understanding, conceptions and misconceptions of topics, and (ii) knowledge of strategies and representations for teaching particular topics. The participants were 12 trainee teachers from various academic science backgrounds attending a one-year postgraduate teacher-training course. They were interviewed on selected basic concepts in physics that are found in the Malaysian Integrated Science curriculum for lower secondary level. The findings showed that trainee teachers' PCK for promoting conceptual understanding is limited. They lacked the ability to transform their understanding of basic concepts in physics required to teach lower secondary school science pupils. The trainees' level of content knowledge affected their awareness of pupils' likely misconceptions. Consequently, the trainees were unable to employ the appropr...

TL;DR: In this paper, the TPNR matrix was prepared from polypropylene, natural rubber and liquid natural rubber (LNR) in the ratio of 70:20:10 with the LNR as the compatibilizer, and the absorption or minimum reflection loss continuously increases and the dip shifts to a lower frequency region with the increasing of both filler content in nanocomposites and the sample thickness.

TL;DR: In this paper, the types of treatment processes, current application of microalgae and high-value products derived from micro-algae used in wastewater treatment processes are presented, as well as the value-added products extracted from microalga harvested after wastewater treatment.
Abstract: Wastewaters from agro-industrial and industrial sources have significant organic matter contents, and some also contain oil and grease, heavy metals and toxic chemicals. Limits have been set for pollutants, especially wastewaters, entering water bodies. Conventional methods of treatment generally require large inputs of energy, large areas of land, and high operation and maintenance costs. Microalgae biomass offers an alternative treatment approach that removes nutrients and other pollutants, such as heavy metals, nitrogen compounds and harmful chemicals. Microalgae harvested after wastewater treatment can be used as value-added products because the microalgae is rich in carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. This paper presents the types of treatment processes, current application of microalgae and high-value products derived from microalgae used in wastewater treatment processes.
