TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on the shielding properties among 21 tellurite glass samples in the form of TeO2-V2O5, TeO 2-V 2O5-TiO2, Te O2- V 2O 5-CeO2 and Te O 2 V 2 O5-ZnO.
Abstract: This article focuses on the shielding properties among 21 tellurite glass samples in the form of TeO2-V2O5, TeO2-V2O5-TiO2, TeO2-V2O5-CeO2 and TeO2-V2O5-ZnO. The shielding properties are: 1. Mass attenuation coefficient, μ/ρ (10 keV–10 MeV), 2. Effective atomic number Zeff, 3. Half value layer, HVL, 4. Macroscopic effective removal cross-section for fast neutron (ΣR). Also, variation of the shielding parameters is compared with other tellurite, borate and silicate glasses to explore the superior shielding properties of tellurite glasses from gamma rays than other glasses.

TL;DR: A type of D-shaped photonic crystal fiber sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is proposed for refractive index sensing and analyzed by the finite element method to make the proposed sensor a competitive candidate for environmental, biological, and biochemical sensing applications.
Abstract: A type of D-shaped photonic crystal fiber sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is proposed for refractive index sensing and analyzed by the finite element method. The SPR effect between surface plasmon polariton modes and fiber core modes of the designed D-shaped photonic crystal fiber is used to measure the refractive index of the analyte. Numerical results show that the sensor can detect a range of refractive index ranging from 1.33 to 1.38. When the thickness of metal film is t=20 nm, the maximum sensitivity of 10,493 nm/RIU is obtained with a very high resolution of 9.53×10−6 RIU. The good sensing performance makes the proposed sensor a competitive candidate for environmental, biological, and biochemical sensing applications.

TL;DR: Compared with the conventional EPSP, although LSSP increases moderate backup resources consumption, it not only can provide 100% protection ability for multiple failures but also can perform much faster recovery time and easier survivable operation and management.

TL;DR: Both 2D and 3D CT radiomics features have a certain prognostic ability in NSCLC, but 2D features showed better performance in the authors' tests and are more recommended for use in the current study.
