TL;DR: Performance evaluations based on synthetic and real trace simulations manifest that the presented method can significantly increase link connectivity, link capacity, network throughput, and energy efficiency comparing with the existing solutions.
Abstract: Due to the heterogeneous and resource-constrained characters of Internet of Things (IoT), how to guarantee ubiquitous network connectivity is challenging. Although LTE cellular technology is the most promising solution to provide network connectivity in IoTs, information diffusion by cellular network not only occupies its saturating bandwidth, but also costs additional fees. Recently, NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT), introduced by 3GPP, is designed for low-power massive devices, which intends to refarm wireless spectrum and increase network coverage. For the sake of providing high link connectivity and capacity, we stimulate effective cooperations among user equipments (UEs), and propose a social-aware group formation framework to allocate resource blocks (RBs) effectively following an in-band NB-IoT solution. Specifically, we first introduce a social-aware multihop device-to-device (D2D) communication scheme to upload information toward the eNodeB within an LTE, so that a logical cooperative D2D topology can be established. Then, we formulate the D2D group formation as a scheduling optimization problem for RB allocation, which selects the feasible partition for the UEs by jointly considering relay method selection and spectrum reuse for NB-IoTs. Since the formulated optimization problem has a high computational complexity, we design a novel heuristic with a comprehensive consideration of power control and relay selection. Performance evaluations based on synthetic and real trace simulations manifest that the presented method can significantly increase link connectivity, link capacity, network throughput, and energy efficiency comparing with the existing solutions.

TL;DR: The GQD/AgNP hybrids exhibit vast potentials for serving as highly effective, broad-spectrum antibacterial agent for sterilization use without the need of additional stimulation by laser irradiation (photosensitization) or the provision of H2O2, facilitating their relative ease of use and cost-effectiveness.
Abstract: We report the first attempt of using graphene quantum dot–Ag nanoparticles (GQD/AgNP hybrids) as oxidase mimics and antibacterial agents. Unlike previous silver- and graphene-based materials, the GQD/AgNP hybrids exhibit a high oxidase-like catalytic activity and possess favorable stability in neutral medium within the range from room temperature to 60 °C. In accordance with their prominent enzyme activities, the GQD/AgNP hybrids show excellent antibacterial properties against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria as well as drug resistant bacteria, with an ultralow minimal inhibitory concentration (2–4 μg/mL) against 1 × 107 to 1 × 108 μg/mL Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. In the presence of the GQD/AgNP hybrids, the fluorescence behavior after the introduction of 2′, 7′-dichlorofluorescin diacetate demonstrated a possible role of reactive oxidative species in the GQD/AgNP hybrid-mediated antibacterial therapeutic effect. Furthermore, TEM and SEM imaging identified concomitant disruption o...

TL;DR: A monocular vision based rear vehicle detection and tracking system is presented for Lane Change Assist (LCA), which does not need road boundary and lane information.
Abstract: A monocular vision based rear vehicle detection and tracking system is presented for Lane Change Assist (LCA), which does not need road boundary and lane information. Our algorithm extracts regions of interest (ROI) using the shadow underneath a vehicle, and accurately localizes vehicle regions in ROI by vehicle features such as symmetry, edge and shadow underneath vehicles. The algorithm realizes vehicle verification by combining knowledge-based and learning-based methods. During vehicle tracking, templates are dynamically created on-line, tracking window is adaptively adjusted with motion estimation, and confidence is determined for tracked vehicle. The algorithm was tested under various traffic scenes at different daytime, the result illustrated good performance.

TL;DR: In this paper, an interacting dark energy model with constant $w$ was proposed, where the interaction term is carefully designed to realize that the cosmological perturbations are stable during the whole expansion history provided that $\ensuremath{\beta}g0$.
Abstract: Dark energy might interact with cold dark matter in a direct, nongravitational way. However, the usual interacting dark energy models (with constant $w$) suffer from some catastrophic difficulties. For example, the $Q\ensuremath{\propto}{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{c}}$ model leads to an early-time large-scale instability, and the $Q\ensuremath{\propto}{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\text{de}}$ model gives rise to the future unphysical result for cold dark matter density (in the case of a positive coupling). In order to overcome these fatal flaws, we propose in this paper an interacting dark energy model (with constant $w$) in which the interaction term is carefully designed to realize that $Q\ensuremath{\propto}{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\text{de}}$ at the early times and $Q\ensuremath{\propto}{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{c}}$ in the future, simultaneously solving the early-time superhorizon instability and future unphysical ${\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{c}}$ problems. The concrete form of the interaction term in this model is $Q=3\ensuremath{\beta}H\frac{{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{de}}{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{c}}}{{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{de}}+{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\mathrm{c}}}$, where $\ensuremath{\beta}$ is the dimensionless coupling constant. We show that this model is actually equivalent to the decomposed new generalized Chaplygin gas (NGCG) model, with the relation $\ensuremath{\beta}=\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\alpha}w$. We calculate the cosmological perturbations in this model in a gauge-invariant way and show that the cosmological perturbations are stable during the whole expansion history provided that $\ensuremath{\beta}g0$. Furthermore, we use the Planck data in conjunction with other astrophysical data to place stringent constraints on this model (with eight parameters), and we find that indeed $\ensuremath{\beta}g0$ is supported by the joint constraint at more than $1\ensuremath{\sigma}$ level. The excellent theoretical features and the support from observations all indicate that the decomposed NGCG model deserves more attention and further investigation.
