TL;DR: This article will focus on the treatment of elder neglect within the context of the family.
Abstract: Abuse and neglect of older adults is largely an invisible problem. Those who are vulnerable are often hidden from the public eye. Troubled families characteristically maintain an isolated existence and, therefore, the mistreatment of elders can occur without the knowledge of neighbors or interested community members. Factors that operate to keep the problem hidden include society's emphasis on family privacy, the victim's unwillingness or inability to report the problem, stereotypes about the aged, and denial (Quinn, 1986). Although the problem of abuse and neglect of elders is not as prevalent as child maltreatment, it is a significant societal problem in need of increased public awareness. This article will focus on the treatment of elder neglect within the context of the family.

TL;DR: The impact of CAFTA-DR's environmental provisions on strategy formulation and development decisions of domestic and multinational firms in member countries is examined and described in this article, where the authors present the latest trends in the region are presented in charts and tables.
Abstract: The specific aim of this chapter is to examine and describe the impact of CAFTA-DR’s environmental provisions on strategy formulation and development decisions of domestic and multinational firms in member countries. This chapter also provides an overview of CAFTA-DR’s member countries and the theoretical framework by which the impact of the treaty’s environmental provisions are assessed. Finally, the chapter examines how voluntary mechanisms of environmental self-regulation such as ISO 14001 have impacted the strategy of domestic and international firms. The latest trends in the region are presented in charts and tables.

TL;DR: In this article, the rate constant for the reaction of Si with O 2 (a -1 Δ g ) was measured in a selected ion flow tube (SIFT) between 200 and 500 K.
Abstract: [1] The rate constant for the reaction of Si with O 2 (a -1 Δ g ) was measured in a selected ion flow tube (SIFT) between 200 and 500 K. The temperature dependence is T -(2.2±0.8) . The rate constant at 500 K is below the detection limit (<1 × 10 -11 cm 3 molecule -1 s 1 ) while the rate constant at 200 K is 3.6 × 10 -11 cm 3 molecule -1 s - 1 . The product is SiO - , in accord with potential energy surfaces. These surfaces also show that the reaction of Si with O 2 ( 3 Σ g ) only yields association products, SiOO ⊥ or OSiO ⊥ ions. An upper mesosphere/lower thermosphere model predicts that reaction with O 2 (a -1 Δ g ) is the most important removal process for Si + during the day between 87 and 107 km, which may explain the depletion of this ion relative to other ions of meteoric origin, such as Fe and Mg + . The reaction therefore has an important influence on the composition and lifetimes of sporadic E layers during daytime.
