TL;DR: It is shown that a family of causal effect parameters are identified in staggered DiD setups, even if differences in observed characteristics create non-parallel outcome dynamics between groups, and the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are established.

TL;DR: In this article, metapelitic rocks from the High Himalayan Crystalline Sequence that are likely sources of leucogranite magmas were shown to be trondhjemitic.
Abstract: We have melted metapelitic rocks from the High Himalayan Crystalline Sequence that are likely sources of leucogranite magmas. Starting materials were a muscovite schist and a tourmaline-bearing muscovite–biotite schist. Both are kyanite-zone rocks from the hanging wall of the Main Central Thrust. Experiments were conducted at 6, 8 and 10 kbar and 700–900°C, both without added H 2 O (dehydration–melting) and with 1–4 wt % added H 2 O. Dehydration-melting begins at 750–800°C, and produces melts that are virtually identical in composition to the Himalayan leucogranites. Adding H 2 O lowers the solidus by promoting plagioclase + quartz melting. Melts produced from these starting materials at T ≤ 750°C by H 2 O-fluxing are trondhjemitic, and different in composition from most Himalayan leucogranites. Leucogranite magmas in the Himalaya formed by dehydration-melting of metapelites during adiabatic decompression, at 6–8 kbar and 750–770°C. The dehydration-melting solidus for muscovite schist has a smaller dP/dT slope than that for biotite schist. In consequence, muscovite schist undergoes decompression-melting more readily than does biotite schist. The two solidi probably cross over at ∼10 kbar, so that muscovite may be a more important deep crustal H 2 O reservoir than biotite.

TL;DR: In this article, the usefulness of single-item global measures of job satisfaction for job satisfaction research and also to explore whether global assessments of overall job satisfaction include consideration of variables typically not measured by job satisfaction instruments was explored.
Abstract: Empirical data indicate that global measures of job satisfaction are not equivalent to the sum of the facet satisfactions. The purposes of this study were to explore the usefulness of single-item global measures of job satisfaction for job satisfaction research and also to explore whether global assessments of job satisfaction include consideration of variables typically not measured by job satisfaction instruments. Subjects are 185 employees working within two research and development units of two multinational corporations. The short-form Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to obtain the sum of the facet satisfactions. Two single-item global questions of overall satisfaction were also used. One required a yes-no response and the second, a 1–5 rating response. Information about perceived determinants of job satisfaction, overall satisfaction with the job, satisfaction with occupational choice, career progress, and overall satisfaction with non-job related events was obtained through semi-structured interviews. Results indicate that defining overall job satisfaction as the sum of the evaluations of the discrete elements of which the job is composed, may lead to neglect of major determinants of job satisfaction. The “whole” appears to be more complex than the sum of the presently measured parts. Results also suggest that the 1–5 global rating of overall job satisfaction may be a more inclusive measure of overall job satisfaction than summation of many facet responses.

TL;DR: It is shown that the kinesin-1 cargo protein JNK-interacting protein 1 (JIP1) is localized to only a subset of neurites in cultured neuronal cells, and microtubule PTMs are important markers of distinct microtubules populations and that they act to control motor-protein trafficking.

TL;DR: In this article, a depth-integrated basis around the globe, at least 1.0 X 10 15 g C and 0.15 × 10 15g N are estimated to be available annually for utilization by planktonic microorganisms through the conversion of light absorbing fractions of dissolved organic matter to more biologically labile compounds.
Abstract: Dissolved organic matter (DOM) can be degraded by sunlight into a variety of photoproducts that stimulate the growth and activity of microorganisms in aquatic environments. All biologically labile photoproducts identified to date fall into one of four categories: (1) low-molecular-weight (MW) organic compounds (carbonyl compounds with MW of 20% of the bacterial carbon demand. Likewise, 30% of the bacterial nitrogen demand can be met by photodegradation of the nitrogen components of DOM, a process likely to be of particular importance in nitrogen-limited systems. When considered on a depth-integrated basis around the globe, at least 1.0 X 10 15 g C and 0.15 X 10 15 g N are estimated to be available annually for utilization by planktonic microorganisms through the conversion of light-absorbing fractions of DOM to more biologically labile compounds. By comparison, direct photochemical mineralization of DOM is estimated to convert 12-16 X 10 15 g C to CO 2 annually.
