Abstract: This protocol describes the preparation of cobalt-based nanocatalysts and their applications in environmentally benign redox processes for fine chemical synthesis. The catalytically active material consists of nanoscale Co3O4 particles surrounded by nitrogen-doped graphene layers (NGrs), which have been prepared by pyrolysis of phenanthroline-ligated cobalt acetate on carbon. The resulting materials have been found to be excellent catalysts for the activation of both molecular oxygen and hydrogen; in all tested reactions, water was the only by-product. By applying these catalysts, green oxidations of alcohols and hydrogenation of nitroarenes for the synthesis of nitriles, esters and amines are demonstrated. The overall time required for catalyst preparation and for redox reactions is 35 h and 10-30 h, respectively.

Abstract: A new network architecture for the Internet needs ingredients from three approaches: information- centric networking, cloud computing integrated with networking, and open connectivity. Information-centric networking considers pieces of information as first-class entities of a networking architecture, rather than only indirectly identifying and manipulating them via a node hosting that information; this way, information becomes independent from the devices they are stored in, enabling efficient and application- independent information caching in the network. Cloud networking offers a combination and integration of cloud computing and virtual networking. It is a solution that distributes the benefits of cloud computing more deeply into the network, and provides a tighter integration of virtualization features at computing and networking levels. To support these concepts, open connectivity services need to provide advanced transport and networking mechanisms, making use of network and path diversity (even leveraging direct optical paths) and encoding techniques, and dealing with ubiquitous mobility of user, content and information objects in a unified way.

Abstract: The design of embedded systems is often based on the development of a detailed formal system specification. Considerable effort is spent to ensure the correctness of this specification. However, the actual implementation of the specification and later maintenance is usually done using traditional programming and more often diverges from the specification. To overcome this, it is desirable to derive the implementation directly from the specification. We present an approach for model-based development of embedded systems applying a well-defined UML 2.0 subset with precise execution semantics. Our approach is fully object-oriented, accounts for important aspects like real-time behavior including timeouts, and interrupts. Through the seamless integration of UML sequence diagrams with state diagrams, executable systems can be completely described. The direct execution of such models on a UML virtual machine (UVM) avoids a separate implementation step and increases portability

Abstract: This paper describes Asteroid, the PyTorch-based audio source separation toolkit for researchers. Inspired by the most successful neural source separation systems, it provides all neu-ral building blocks required to build such a system. To improve reproducibility, Kaldi-style recipes on common audio source separation datasets are also provided. This paper describes the software architecture of Asteroid and its most important features. By showing experimental results obtained with Asteroid's recipes, we show that our implementations are at least on par with most results reported in reference papers. The toolkit is publicly available at github.com/mpariente/asteroid.
