TL;DR: In this paper, a chemically bonded TiO2/graphene composites with a chemically-bonded interface were prepared by a facile solvothermal method using tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT) as the Ti source.
Abstract: Recently, graphene-based semiconductor photocatalysts have attracted more attention because of their enhanced photocatalytic activity caused by interfacial charge transfer (IFCT). However, the effect of a chemical bond is rarely involved for the IFCT. In this work, TiO2/graphene composites with a chemically bonded interface were prepared by a facile solvothermal method using tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT) as the Ti source. The chemically bonded TiO2/graphene composites effectively enhanced their photocatalytic activity in photodegradation of formaldehyde in air, and the graphene content exhibited an obvious influence on the photocatalytic activity. The prepared composite with 2.5 wt % graphene (G2.5-TiO2) showed the highest photocatalytic activity, exceeding that of Degussa P25, as-prepared pure TiO2 nanoparticles, and the mechanically mixed TiO2/graphene (2.5 wt %) composite by a factor of 1.5, 2.6, and 2.3, respectively. The enhancement in the photocatalytic activity was attributed to the synergetic ef...

TL;DR: A flexible quasi-solid-state Ni-Zn battery is developed by using tiny ZnO nanoparticles and porous ultrathin NiO nanoflakes conformally deposited on hierar chical carbon-cloth-carbon-fiber as the anode and cathode.
Abstract: A flexible quasi-solid-state Ni-Zn battery is developed by using tiny ZnO nanoparticles and porous ultrathin NiO nanoflakes conformally deposited on hierar chical carbon-cloth-carbon-fiber (CC-CF) as the anode (CC-CF@ZnO) and cathode (CC-CF@NiO), respectively. The device is able to deliver high performance (absence of Zn dendrite), superior to previous reports on aqueous Ni-Zn batteries and other flexible electrochemical energy-storage devices.

TL;DR: In this article, a localized Ostwald ripening mechanism was proposed to account for the formation of CuO/Cu2O composite hollow microspheres with controlled diameter and composition using Cu(CH3COO)2·H2O as a precursor.
Abstract: CuO/Cu2O composite hollow microspheres with controlled diameter and composition were prepared without the addition of templates and additives by hydrothermal synthesis using Cu(CH3COO)2·H2O as a precursor. Increasing the precursor concentration from 0.02 to 0.2 M increased the diameter of the composite hollow microspheres from 500 nm to 5 μm. Moreover, the content of Cu2O in the composite hollow microspheres increased with increasing the reaction time or/and precursor concentration to produce a range of composite hollow microspheres with Cu2O contents from 20 to 80 wt %. A localized Ostwald ripening mechanism was proposed to account for the formation of CuO/Cu2O composite hollow microspheres. The photocatalytic activity experiment indicated that the prepared CuO/Cu2O composite hollow microspheres exhibited a higher photocatalytic activity for the photocatalytic decolorization of methyl orange aqueous solution under the visible-light illumination than the single phase CuO or Cu2O samples.
