Apolipoprotein B, Residual Cardiovascular Risk After Acute Coronary Syndrome, and Effects of Alirocumab

- 30 Aug 2022 -
TL;DR: The ODYSSEY OUTCOMES trial as mentioned in this paper compared the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitor alirocumab with placebo in 18 924 patients with recent acute coronary syndrome and elevated atherogenic lipoproteins despite optimized statin therapy.

Highlights from Selected Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Studies Presented at the 2019 European Society of Cardiology Congress.

TL;DR: A number of studies presented at the 2019 ESC Congress reinforced the value of preventative interventions in CVD risk reduction, and a comprehensive model of care adapted to address multiple barriers of specific communities led to substantial improved blood pressure control, medication use, and adherence.

Hypertension and Dyslipidemia Combined Therapeutic Approaches

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors summarized the available evidence regarding non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches with a favorable effect on both BP and lipids, and concluded that concomitant treatment of hypertension and dyslipidemia with nonpharmacology approaches and/or metabolically neutral antihypertensive drugs and statins produce a significantly greater reduction of the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
