Effect of Bempedoic Acid on Serum Uric Acid and Related Outcomes: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of the available Phase 2 and Phase 3 Clinical Studies

TL;DR: Bempedoic acid seems to have unfavourable effects on SUA, creatinine level and the incidence of gout, and it is suggested that further studies are performed both to elucidate the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying these associations and to verify the long-term safety of this treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Therapie des Typ-2-Diabetes

TL;DR: This work presents a probabilistic picture of the immune system’s response to insulin use in the context of a patients with type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

How low is safe? The frontier of very low (<30 mg/dL) LDL cholesterol.

TL;DR: Given the potential for cardiovascular benefit and short-term safe profile of very low LDL-C, it may be advantageous to attain such low levels in specific high-risk populations, and further studies are needed to compare the net clinical benefit of non-LDL-C-lowering interventions with very low cholesterol approaches.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical utility of polygenic risk scores for coronary artery disease.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe technical and downstream considerations for the derivation and validation of polygenic risk scores and current evidence for their efficacy and safety, and discuss the implementation of these scores in clinical medicine for uses including risk prediction and screening algorithms for coronary artery disease, prioritization of patient subgroups that are likely to derive benefit from treatment, and efficient prospective clinical trial designs.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Boosted Ensemble Algorithm for Determination of Plaque Stability in High-Risk Patients on Coronary CTA

TL;DR: In a high-risk cohort, a boosted ensemble algorithm can be used to predict CL from non-CL precursors on coronary CTA, and this model demonstrated significantly higher area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve for discriminating CL precursor.

Atherosclerosis — An Inflammatory Disease

TL;DR: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease as discussed by the authors, and it is a major cause of death in the United States, Europe, and much of Asia, despite changes in lifestyle and use of new pharmacologic approaches to lower plasma cholesterol concentrations.

TL;DR: In this article, a randomized controlled trial of Aliskiren in the Prevention of Major Cardiovascular Events in Elderly people was presented. But the authors did not discuss the effect of the combination therapy in patients living with systolic hypertension.

Atherosclerosis is an Inflammatory Disease

TL;DR: Despite changes in lifestyle and the use of new pharmacologic approaches to lower plasma cholesterol concentrations, cardiovascular disease continues to be the principal cause of death in the United States, Europe, and much of Asia.

Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes

TL;DR: These standards of care are intended to provide clinicians, patients, researchers, payors, and other interested individuals with the components of diabetes care, treatment goals, and tools to evaluate the quality of care.
