A PPAR-independent pathway to PUFA-induced COX-2 expression

TLDR
The results demonstrate a pathway to the induction of COX-2 by PUFAs requiring NF-kappaB but not PPAR or PKC, and the PPAR-independent effect of PUFA was mimicked by the PKC activators 4beta-PMA and prostaglandin F(2alpha), but was not blocked by thePKC inhibitor RO318425.

Involvement of the nuclear factor-κB pathway in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.

TL;DR: In this article, the role of NF-κB in the pathogenesis of endometriosis has been evaluated using a literature search conducted in PubMed to identify all relevant citations, highlighting the important role of NGF in the pathwayophysiology of Endometria.

Therapeutic Potential of ω-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Human Autoimmune Diseases.

TL;DR: The current understanding of the effects as well as the underlying mechanisms of ω-3 PUFAs on autoimmune diseases is summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fatty acids regulate CREBh via transcriptional mechanisms that are dependent on proteasome activity and insulin

TL;DR: The nature and mechanisms of fatty acid-mediated regulation of CREBh, a recently identified transcription factor that appears to be required for hepatic synthesis of C-reactive protein, are examined, establishing a potential molecular link between fatty acids and inflammation.

Conjugated linoleic acids attenuate FSH- and IGF1-stimulated cell proliferation; IGF1, GATA4, and aromatase expression; and estradiol-17β production in buffalo granulosa cells involving PPARγ, PTEN, and PI3K/Akt

TL;DR: This study demonstrated the cross talk between downstream signaling of CLA and important hormone regulators of endocrine system, i.e. FSH and IGF1, on buffalo granulosa cell function (proliferation and steroidogenesis) and found that CLA intervenes the IGF1 signaling by decreasing p-Akt.

Angiotensin II activates the calcineurin/NFAT signaling pathway and induces cyclooxygenase-2 expression in rat endometrial stromal cells.

TL;DR: Angiotensin II induced Cox-2 gene expression by activating the calcineurin/NFAT signaling pathway in endometrial stromal cells of non-pregnant but not of early-p Regnant rats, which might be related to differential roles that COX-2 plays in the endometrium.

Stimulation of phosphoinositide hydrolysis by oxytocin and the mechanism by which oxytocin controls prostaglandin synthesis in the ovine endometrium.

TL;DR: It is proposed that the stimulation of endometrial prostaglandin synthesis by oxytocin is accounted for by increased hydrolysis of phosphoinositides to diacylglycerol and inositol phosphates with subsequent release of arachidonic acid from diacydonic acid.

Cellular mechanisms involved during oxytocin-induced prostaglandin F2alpha production in endometrial epithelial cells in vitro: role of cyclooxygenase-2.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated, for the first time, that COX-2 is involved in the mechanism by which OT regulates PGF2alpha production in the endometrium.

Tyrosine Phosphorylation of I-κB Kinase α/β by Protein Kinase C-Dependent c-Src Activation Is Involved in TNF-α-Induced Cyclooxygenase-2 Expression

TL;DR: Data suggest that, in addition to activating NIK, TNF-α also activates PKC-dependent c-Src, which goes on to activate NF-κB, via serine phosphorylation and degradation of IκB-α, and, finally, to initiate COX-2 expression.

Interleukin-1β Elevates Cyclooxygenase-2 Protein Level and Enzyme Activity via Increasing Its mRNA Stability in Human Endometrial Stromal Cells: An Effect Mediated by Extracellularly Regulated Kinases 1 and 2

TL;DR: A NF-κB site, a nuclear factor for IL-6 expression site (NF-IL6, −132/−124 bp), and a cAMP response element were essential for the baseline COX-2 gene promoter regulation...

The effect of pregnancy on the expression of uterine oxytocin, oestrogen and progesterone receptors during early pregnancy in the cow.

TL;DR: Results indicated that the sampling time coincided with the onset of the luteolytic mechanism in the NP cows, and suggested that, in cows, the presence of an embryo suppressed the expression of OTR, but had no effect on theexpression of the transcriptionally regulated ER on day 16.
