There is mixed evidence regarding the possible underlying cause of LPP (in pregnant and non-pregnant populations) where several biological and psychological factors have been suggested as the underlying driver of the condition.
Abstract
Description: When assessing a person suffering from low backand pelvic girdle pain (lumbopelvic pain, LPP) in clinical practice it is considered important to do so within a bio-psychosocial framework. There is however, mixed evidence regarding the possible underlying cause of LPP (in pregnant and non-pregnant populations) where several biological and psychological factors have been suggested as the underlying driver of the condition.

Symptom-Giving Pelvic Girdle Relaxation in Pregnancy. I: Prevalence and Risk Factors

TL;DR: In this paper, a cohort of 1600 consecutive pregnant women filled in a questionnaire and those who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were examined by a rheumatologist to confirm the diagnosis of symptom-giving pelvic girdle relaxation.

Low pressure pain threshold is associated with, but does not predispose for low back pain

TL;DR: The findings indicate that PPT decreases as a consequence of long-lasting pain, whereas a low PPT seems not to constitute a separate risk factor for the development of LBP.

TL;DR: Prevalence and severity of health loss were weakly correlated and age-specific prevalence of YLDs increased with age in all regions and has decreased slightly from 1990 to 2010, but population growth and ageing have increased YLD numbers and crude rates over the past two decades.

The short-form version of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21): Construct validity and normative data in a large non-clinical sample
