On the Problem of Choosing Subgroups of Clifford Algebras for Applications in Fundamental Physics

TL;DR: In this article, the existence of three generations of fermions and the symmetry-breaking of the weak interaction seem to emerge naturally from an extension of the Dirac algebra from complex numbers to quaternions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement and the interpretation of quantum mechanics and relativity theory

TL;DR: The necessity of generalizing the formalisms of both quantum mechanics and relativity theory so as to encompass more realistic nonideal measurements is discussed and it is argued that this generalization favours an empiricist interpretation of the mathematical formalisms over a realist one.
Journal ArticleDOI

Induced gravity from gauge theories

TL;DR: In this paper, the possibility of a class of gauge theories, in four Euclidean dimensions, to describe gravity at quantum level was discussed, and an analogy with quantum chromodynamics was also formulated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Forgotten Tradition: How the Logical Empiricists Missed the Philosophical Significance of the Work of Riemann, Christoffel and Ricci

TL;DR: In this paper, a historical reconstruction of the alternative line of development Riemann-Chritoffel-Ricci-Einstein shows on the contrary that the main philosophical issue raised by Einstein's theory was rather that of mathematical over-determination, i.e. the recognition of the presence of redundant mathematical differences that do not have any correspondence in physical reality.
