What’s normal? Oligosaccharide concentrations and profiles in milk produced by healthy women vary geographically

TLDR
The hypothesis that normal HMO concentrations and profiles vary geographically, even in healthy women is supported and targeted genomic analyses are required to determine whether these differences are due at least in part to genetic variation.

Profile of Twenty-Three Human Milk Oligosaccharides in Han Chinese Mothers throughout Postpartum 1 year

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper identified human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) concentration profile, milk microbiota composition, and associations with major maternal characteristics in Han Chinese mothers in the one-year lactation period.

Differences in the content of human milk oligosaccharides between foremilk and hind milk

TL;DR: In this article , the differences in fat content, protein composition, and oligosaccharides content between foremilk and hind milk in human milk were examined, and the results showed that the fat content of hind milk was significantly higher in the hind milk than in the foremilks.

Human Milk Oligosaccharides Variation in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus Mothers

TL;DR: In this article , the authors explored the lactational changes in the concentration of HMOs in exclusively breastfeeding GDM mothers and the differences between GDM and healthy mothers and found that HMO levels in colostrum, transitional milk, and mature milk correlated positively with the infant's weight-for-age Z-score at six months postnatal in the GDM group.

Proyecto internacional INSPIRE: «¿Qué es normal en la leche humana» (II). Compuestos inmunológicos solubles

TL;DR: The objective of this work was the detection and quantification of a wide array of immune compounds, including innate immunity factors, acquired immunity factors and immunoglobulins, in milk produced by healthy women of different ethnicities living in different geographic, dietary, socioeconomic, and environmental settings.

Controlling the false discovery rate: a practical and powerful approach to multiple testing

TL;DR: In this paper, a different approach to problems of multiple significance testing is presented, which calls for controlling the expected proportion of falsely rejected hypotheses -the false discovery rate, which is equivalent to the FWER when all hypotheses are true but is smaller otherwise.

Metagenes and molecular pattern discovery using matrix factorization.

TL;DR: Nonnegative matrix factorization is described, an algorithm based on decomposition by parts that can reduce the dimension of expression data from thousands of genes to a handful of metagenes, and found less sensitive to a priori selection of genes or initial conditions and able to detect alternative or context-dependent patterns of gene expression in complex biological systems.
