Genetic studies on the Tharu population of Nepal: restriction endonuclease polymorphisms of mitochondrial DNA.

TL;DR: The mitochondrial DNAs of 91 Tharus from Nepal were screened for restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) using six highly informative restriction endonucleases and it was concluded that the Tharu mtDNAs are closely related to those of other Oriental populations.
Journal Article

Mitochondrial disease genetic diagnostics: optimized whole-exome analysis for all MitoCarta nuclear genes and the mitochondrial genome.

TL;DR: The "1:100 Mito-Plus Whole-Exome" Agilent capture kit offers an optimized tool for whole-exome analysis of nuclear and mtDNA genes relevant to the diagnostic evaluation of mitochondrial disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phy-Mer: a novel alignment-free and reference-independent mitochondrial haplogroup classifier.

TL;DR: This work has developed a novel mitochondrial genome haplogroup-defining algorithm using a k-mer approach namely Phy-Mer, which performs equally well as the leading haplogroups classifier, HaploGrep, while avoiding the errors that may occur when preparing variants to required formats and notations.
